GTA 6: Release Possible in 2024

Is GTA 6 Coming Out Next Year?

Rumors are swirling that the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 might be released as early as next year. This speculation comes from a recent press release issued by Take-Two Interactive, the publisher of the Grand Theft Auto franchise, in which they outlined their financial projections for the coming years.

Take-Two’s Ambitious Projections

  • Take-Two’s press release states that fiscal year 2025, which begins in April 2024, is a “highly anticipated year” for the company.
  • They expect to launch “several groundbreaking titles” during this fiscal year, aiming to achieve over $8 billion in Net Bookings and over $1 billion in Adjusted Unrestricted Operating Cash Flow.
  • Take-Two expects to sustain this momentum with even higher operating results in fiscal year 2026 and beyond.

While Take-Two didn’t explicitly mention Grand Theft Auto in their press release, the sheer magnitude of their projections suggests a major title is in the pipeline. Reaching such ambitious financial goals without a game as impactful as Grand Theft Auto seems highly unlikely.

The Success of GTA 5 and GTA Online

Grand Theft Auto V, released in 2013, remains the best-selling single game of all time, consistently selling roughly five million units per quarter. Its online counterpart, GTA Online, has been a massive revenue driver for Take-Two, generating significant ongoing revenue through microtransactions and content updates. This continued success demonstrates the enduring popularity of the franchise and its potential to contribute substantially to Take-Two’s financial goals.

Rockstar’s Confirmation and Leaks

Rockstar Games, the developer behind the Grand Theft Auto franchise, confirmed that GTA 6 was in active development last year. However, they have remained tight-lipped about the game’s progress and release date. A significant leak late last year revealed incomplete gameplay footage and details about the game, stirring up excitement among fans. While this incident was described as an “emotional matter” for the developers, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick confirmed it had no impact on the business.

The Future of the Franchise

Despite Take-Two’s ambitious projections and the confirmation of GTA 6’s development, no official release date has been announced. However, the company’s financial goals and the massive success of previous Grand Theft Auto titles suggest that a release in the next year is a strong possibility. Fans eagerly await news from Rockstar Games and the official announcement of GTA 6’s release date.
