Dragonspine's Lost Civilization: Teyvat Tales

Teyvat Tales: The Lost Civilization of Dragonspine

Dragonspine, a formidable mountainscape bordering Mondstadt and Liyue, hides a chilling secret beneath its icy exterior. Though geographically connected to both nations, it is considered part of Mondstadt, symbolized by the Statue of the Seven dedicated to Barbatos that stands atop its peak. Beneath the layers of snow and ice, lie the ruins of a forgotten civilization. This article delves into the tragic history of Sal Vindagnyr, the lost kingdom that once thrived on this now-frozen peak.

The Blizzard Strayer Set

In Genshin Impact, the Blizzard Strayer artifact set is highly sought after by players aiming to optimize their Cryo damage-dealing characters. This set is especially potent for characters that can consistently apply the Cryo element. The set bonuses amplify Cryo damage output and boost the character’s Critical Rate, making it easier to deal significant damage to enemies.

  • The 2-piece bonus grants a 15% increase to Cryo Damage.
  • The 4-piece bonus increases Crit Rate by 20% against enemies affected by Cryo and an additional 20% against Frozen enemies.

The Peak of Vindagnyr domain on Dragonspine is where you can obtain these valuable artifacts, as well as the Heart of Depth set which enhances Hydro damage. Clever players have even found unconventional ways to use this set on non-Cryo characters by utilizing Cryo application from other party members, showcasing its flexibility and strategic value.

The People of Sal Vindagnyr

Before the perpetual winter gripped Dragonspine, it was known as Vindagnyr, a lush, green mountain home to the kingdom of Sal Vindagnyr. Seeking refuge from the harsh blizzards that predated Barbatos’s reign over Mondstadt, its inhabitants built a thriving city upon the mountain. A massive, sacred white tree stood at the center of their civilization. This tree played a vital role in their culture.

  • The tree was considered sacred, with blessings bestowed upon infants born beneath its branches.
  • One princess, born under the tree, received the gift of foresight, expressed through her art. Her murals offer glimpses into the events leading to the kingdom’s downfall.

The prosperity of Sal Vindagnyr was seemingly tied to the Skyfrost Nail, an object from Celestia that anchored to the mountain. This nail acted as a possible source of energy. This would soon change when disaster struck, forever changing the fate of the kingdom and its people.

A Ray of Hope

As the princess foresaw a cataclysmic event, visions of a dragon poisoning the mountain filled her dreams. Compounding this dread, the Skyfrost Nail suddenly plummeted from the sky, triggering a devastating avalanche of ice and snow. To find a solution, the people entrusted the brave outlander, Imunlaukr, with the task of halting the encroaching cold.

  • The princess, holding deep affection for Imunlaukr, gifted him the Snow-Tombed Starsilver sword as he departed.
  • She began a fresco in his honor, intending to complete it upon his return.

Tragedy struck when the Skyfrost Nail shattered into three pieces, piercing through the mountain and impacting vital areas. Facing the failing tree, the princess attempted to graft a healthy branch, sacrificing herself in the blizzard’s fury. With hope extinguished and the kingdom succumbing to the icy grip, the people of Sal Vindagnyr perished. Imunlaukr returned to find a frozen wasteland, cursing the gods of Celestia for the destruction he witnessed.

The Aftermath

The once vibrant mountain transformed into a desolate expanse of ice and snow, erasing the kingdom of Sal Vindagnyr from living memory. Years passed, and the Calamity befell Mondstadt when the corrupted dragon Durin attacked the city. With the Knights of Favonius away, Barbatos summoned Dvalin to defend Mondstadt. Dvalin vanquished Durin, casting the dragon’s body onto Dragonspine.

  • The princess’s vision was realized, although she and her people were long gone.
  • The shattered white tree miraculously sprouted anew, nourished by Durin’s remains.
  • This event led to the mountain being renamed Dragonspine.

The civilization of Sal Vindagnyr remained in ruins under the thick ice. The few murals left behind stood as the only testimony to their existence. Imunlaukr, heartbroken, sought refuge in Old Mondstadt. He eventually started the Imunlaukr Clan, a group that later faded into obscurity. The tales of Sal Vindagnyr serve as a reminder of the fragility of civilizations and the enduring power of nature.

Some Speculations

The Skyfrost Nail shares visual similarities with the pillars seen in Genshin Impact’s login screen, suggesting a potential connection to Celestia. Some theorize that the login screen depicts a portion of Celestia itself. This theory is strengthened by the murals in Dragonspine’s secret room, which depict Celestia and the Skyfrost Nail hovering above the mountain.

Considering these events, Imunlaukr’s animosity towards the gods is understandable. The fall of the Nail caused the devastation and demise of his people. However, the reasons behind the Nail’s descent are currently unknown. Perhaps the disaster was not intentional. The ice that sealed Durin’s remains prevented corruption from spreading further. The mysteries surrounding Dragonspine continue to fuel speculation and add to the depth of Genshin Impact’s lore.
