Who is the Rockstar developer?
Obbe Vermeij is a former developer of Rockstar Games. There he worked for almost 14 years, from 1995 to 2009, for Rockstar North in Edinburgh, Scotland, as technical director.
During his time at Rockstar, he has worked on various GTA parts, including the legendary GTA San Andreas. He was also involved in GTA 3, Vice City, Vice City Stories, GTA 4 and its expansions “The Lost and Damned” and “The Ballad of Gay Tony”.
On X.com, Vermeij was asked if he would play GTA 6 and what he expected from the action game. The former developer’s answer couldn’t be clearer.

What does the developer say about GTA 6?
First, Vermeij said that he would play GTA 6 and then added his high expectations for the game: “I think it will be the best game ever.”
Then he added that it could be almost as good for him as a popular indie game: “I think I’ll enjoy it almost as much as Stardew Valley.”
Stardew Valley is considered one of the best games on Steam. The farming simulation, released in 2016, convinces with its distinctive social system despite pixel graphics. Whether GTA 6 can at least become the best game of 2025, however, is not a question of quality at the moment. So far, we don’t know a release date for the eagerly awaited game and so there are also rumors and speculation that GTA could not come until 2026.
Just recently, a well-known and extremely well-connected industry insider said he believes that the latest part of Grand Theft Auto will actually be postponed and will not be released until 2026.
