The FFXIV x Yo-Kai Watch Event
Square Enix launched the FFXIV x Yo-Kai Watch Event in 2015, and it is returning starting April 24, 2024. This collaboration event allows players to collect event-exclusive weapons and minions. The event also introduces a new Framer’s Kit that players can farm during the event. The collaboration event involves farming fated quests and using event-specific minions to collect medals. These medals can then be exchanged for rewards with The Wandering Executive NPC in The Golden Saucer. The event does not have a confirmed end date yet, so players can take their time farming the collab.
How to Join the FFXIV x Yo-Kai Watch Event
The event is open to everyone, including free trial players. To participate, players need to be at least level 15 and have completed the appropriate main scenario quest based on their home city-state. They also need to have The Gold Saucer unlocked by completing the quest “It Could Happen To You.” To start the event, players can interact with The Poor-Heeled Youth near the Aetheryte Plaza in Ul’dah. This will kick off the event quest and lead players to The Gold Saucer, where they will receive their Yo-Kai Watch and Yo-Kai Medallion.
All FFXIV x Yo-Kai Watch Weapons
The FFXIV x Yo-Kai Watch Event offers 17 weapons as rewards. These weapons are obtained by farming Legendary Medals, which can be earned through fated quests using specific Yo-Kai minions. Each class has a corresponding Yo-Kai minion and weapon. Here is a list of the Yo-Kai minions and their corresponding class weapon rewards:
- Warrior (Paw of the Crimson Cat) = Jibanyan
- White Mage (Cane of the Shrine Guardian) = Komasan

Where to Farm Medals
Medals can be farmed in the A Realm Reborn, Stormblood, and Heavensward areas. However, the specific medals available in each region depend on the weapon class. To obtain event tokens, players must complete fated quests with a Silver or Gold rating. Here are the recommended regions for farming medals based on weapon class:
- Jibanya – Central Shroud, Lower La Noscea, and Central Thanalan
- Komasan – Outer La Noscea, Western La Noscea, and Eastern Thanalan
- USApyon – South Shroud, Middle La Noscea, and Western Thanalan
- Whisper – South Shroud, Upper La Noscea, and Southern Thanalan
- Shogunyan – Lower La Noscea, Central Thanalan, and East Shroud
- Hovernyan – Western La Noscea, Eastern Thanalan, and South Shroud
- Komajiro – Central Thanalan, East Shroud, and Western La Noscea
- Noko – Southern Thanalan, North Shroud, and Outer La Noscea
- Venoct – Middle La Noscea, Western Thanalan, and Central Shroud
- Kyubi – Western Thanalan, Central Shroud, and Lower La Noscea
- Robonyan – Upper La Noscea, Southern Thanalan, and Central Shroud

How to Farm All 17 Yo-Kai Watch Minions
To collect all 17 Yo-Kai Watch Minions, players need to farm 49 Normal Medals. The first minion obtained will only cost one token, but subsequent redeems will require three tokens each. One efficient method for farming Normal Medals quickly is to head to Outer La Noscea. Two spots in the U’Ghamoro Mines North of the map spawn back-to-back fated quests. Players can travel between these areas and accumulate event tokens efficiently.
Tip Before Farming Normal Medals
- Having a flying mount is recommended, as some of the required points of interest (POIs) are flying targets.
- Being at least level 50 is advisable for farming fated quests in the U’Ghamoro Mines, as the local mobs are around that level.
- Doing fated quests in a group can make the process faster, as objectives can be bursted down quickly. Consider joining parties or inviting guildmates to the event.
- Any fated quest will reward players with Normal Medals, so even the most basic quests yield the necessary amount.
What Do You Get for Farming All Yo-Kai Watch Minions
Players who obtain 13 out of the 17 available Yo-Kai Watch minions will receive a Whisper-go mount as a reward during the event. There is no need to unlock all 17 minions to obtain this event-exclusive reward.
How to Farm All 17 Yo-Kai Watch Weapons
To obtain all 17 Yo-Kai Watch weapons, players need to farm Legendary Medals in the designated zones for each weapon class. Legendary Medals are obtained from fated quests using specific Yo-Kai minions. The first weapon obtained will cost five tokens, and subsequent exchanges will cost 10. Players will need a total of 165 Legendary Medals, which are not guaranteed drops.
Tip Before Farming Legendary Medals
- Having a flying mount is recommended, as some of the required points of interest (POIs) are flying targets.
- Focusing on one minion per run can make the process more efficient.
How to Unlock the New Yo-Kai Watch Framer’s Kit
The new Yo-Kai Watch Framer’s Kit is available in the Golden Saucer and can be unlocked using MGP. Players must unlock all 17 Yo-Kai Watch minions to purchase the Framer’s Kit from Nohi at the Gold Saucer.
How Long Will the Event Last?
The FFXIV x Yo-Kai Watch event does not have a confirmed end date yet. However, the collaboration is expected to last until June 26, 2024. Players have sufficient time to grind for all weapons and rewards before the event concludes, which is two days before the launch of the Dawntrail expansion on June 28, 2024.
