EQ2 Raid Etiquette for Progression

Do you really know your class?

Understanding your class’s strengths and weaknesses is crucial for effective raiding. It’s not just about knowing your abilities, but also when and where to use them. For example, a healer needs to prioritize their healing, while a DPS player should position themselves for maximum damage output. Knowing your class’s mechanics allows you to make informed decisions in the heat of battle.

Invest time during leveling to become proficient with your class. Practice in smaller groups to refine your timing and decision-making. Remember, a skilled player with a good understanding of their class is far more valuable than a less experienced one with better gear.

Have you amply geared up?

Entering a raid under-geared puts you and your team at a disadvantage. Strive to obtain the best gear you can afford and equip superior adorns to improve your stats. The goal is to be able to survive and perform your role effectively. Remember, a dead player cannot contribute to the raid’s success.

Did you remember to stock up on supplies?

Raids can be demanding, and relying solely on healers or group buffs may not always be enough. Stock up on potions, food, and drink buffs to enhance your survivability and performance. Bring a variety of curatives, as you never know what challenges you might encounter. If you’re a class that uses ammunition, make sure you have a full quiver of high-quality arrows, bolts, or bullets. A generous raider might even carry an extra quiver to help teammates in need.

Consider carrying a ‘Call of the Tinkerer’ to easily teleport back to your group in case you get lost. It’s a courtesy that saves time for everyone. Don’t forget to utilize your manastones for added benefits during combat.

Have you made the necessary research about the raid?

Familiarize yourself with the raid encounter before entering. While your group may have its own strategies, understanding the mechanics of the raid will allow you to adapt to changing situations. Researching the raid’s mechanics will also help you determine the most effective poisons, curatives, and ammunition to bring.

Are you ready to communicate?

Effective communication is essential for raid success. Use a VOIP program for clear and timely communication, as typing during combat can be difficult. Remember that communication is a two-way street; listen carefully to your teammates and contribute to the conversation.

Are you being polite?

Polite behavior goes a long way in creating a positive raiding environment. Beyond basic courtesies, consider the needs of your team when rolling for loot. Only roll for items you genuinely need for your current or alternate character. Be honest about your intentions and avoid rolling for items solely for the purpose of selling. Respecting the group’s dynamics will earn you goodwill and increase your chances of being invited back for future raids.

Is that all for my EQ2 raid progression?

Beyond general etiquette, familiarize yourself with your guild’s specific rules and expectations. Guilds may have unique loot distribution policies or other guidelines. Additionally, follow common raiding etiquette, such as refraining from looting during combat and notifying others before collecting “shinies.” Learning the unspoken rules of raiding through experience is essential for your progression.

Remember that rolling for loot should only be done when you genuinely need the item. If you accidentally roll for something you don’t need, be prepared to offer it back to the group. However, be aware that not all groups are understanding in such situations.

By mastering your class, preparing adequately, communicating effectively, and maintaining good etiquette, you’ll be well on your way to becoming a valued raider and enhancing your EQ2 raid progression.
