The dungeon DLC Fallen Banners and the free Update 45 for Elder Scrolls Online are live, at least on PC and Mac. The most exciting innovation revolves around the visual splendor of several zones. Buy ESO Gold to enhance your adventure and gear up for the latest challenges!
What’s in the update?
- The new dungeon DLC Fallen Banners includes – ESO fans know it – two new dungeons: the Redoubt of the Secluded and Lep Seclusa. For the time being, you can only access it via the ESO Plus subscription. Other ways to play the content are to be announced on April 10, 2025.
- Update 45 is available for free to all ESO players and provides a graphical modernization of the starting areas of Wasterock, Bal Foyen, Stros M’Kai, Betnikh, and Khenarthi’s Rest – so that they match the level of the newer regions in terms of lighting, texture quality, or environmental details.
- Update 45 also increases the starting speed of mounts, reworks the Dexterity constellation, and makes the map more readable through a cleanup. In addition, the game’s disguises are moving from the inventory to your collections, and the visibility of Mundus Stone Blessing will be improved.
On consoles, DLC and update are scheduled to follow on March 26, 2025.
Big test of Cyrodiil coming soon
What else is on the agenda?
The developers want to significantly improve the PvP experience in Cyrodiil and are therefore planning a big test with “Champions Cyrodiils”. The associated Alliance War campaign called “Retribution” is scheduled to run from March 24 to 31, 2025.
The goal is to improve stability and performance in Cyrodiil as well as in surrounding regions. The developers revealed more details during a Q&A session on YouTube a few weeks ago. You can find the full German patch notes on elderscrollsonline.com.
What else will happen at ESO 2025?
The only thing that is clear so far is that the developers want to switch from the update cycle of previous years to a seasonal roadmap that does not require a big chapter in the summer:
- From 2025 and 2026 respectively, there will be three- or six-month seasons that will deliver a mix of thematically appropriate story content, events, dungeons, shop additions and more.
- In addition to smaller pieces of content, larger innovations are still planned, some of which the developers have been working on for more than a year.
- For example, there will also be area-based content again in 2025, but it will not be presented until April. In the medium term, however, the plan is to set the new story content in existing areas, completing current but still open plot threads and putting familiar characters back in the spotlight.
- In the course of the seasons, the desire from the community to dare more and experiment should be fulfilled. You don’t want to be so predictable and try out new types of content.
What do you think of this new plan for Elder Scrolls Online? Reveal it in the comments! We will probably find out more details at the ESO Direct show of Microsoft, Bethesda and Zenimax on April 10, 2025.
