Nearby, observe massive roots descending from the mountain into the city. These roots can be scaled, similar to the dragon statue’s wing. Ascend these roots, ignoring the Erdtree Guardians along the way. At the culmination of the winding root, you’ll encounter a side entrance to the Erdtree Sanctuary Cathedral, where a boss fight awaits against a formidable shade of Godfrey, the First Elden Lord.
From the Erdtree Sanctuary site of grace, exit through the west door, where an elevator transports you to the lower level. Follow the path downward and leap over the railing to the left, where a colossal golden spear protrudes from the wall. Climb a short distance up the spear to discover the coveted Bolt of Gransax. The weapon remains accessible as long as Leyndell persists; however, upon the defeat of Maliketh at Farum Azula, Leyndell succumbs to ash, rendering the spear unobtainable in that playthrough.
