Should You Buy the Diablo 4 Season 1 Battle Pass?
Diablo 4’s Season 1, Season of the Malignant, introduces the game’s first Battle Pass. Players have the option to choose between the free and premium versions of the pass. However, with the limited benefits of the Premium Battle Pass, players might wonder if it is worth the price.
The Diablo 4 Season 1 Battle Pass
- Free Battle Pass: Offers 27 tiers with rewards like cosmetic items and Smoldering Ashes.
- Premium Battle Pass: Unlocks all 63 tiers with rewards like costumes and Platinum currency.
- Accelerated Package: Skips 20 tiers and unlocks an additional cosmetic. Only available with Premium Battle Pass.
What to Expect from the Battle Pass?
The Battle Pass primarily focuses on cosmetic rewards. The only in-game advantage offered is Smoldering Ashes, which can be obtained through the free version of the Battle Pass. These ashes can be used to obtain buffs like XP or Gold Boosts.
The premium version offers various cosmetic items:
- Mounts: Warded Mustang Mount, Heartglow Lantern Mount Trophy
- Transmogs: Coldiron Vessel Focus Transmog (Sorcerer), Coldiron Sagaris One-Handed Axe Transmog (Barbarian, Druid), Coldiron Aegis Shield Transmog (Necromancer), Coldiron Lamina Totem Transmog (Druid), Coldiron Bracers Arms Transmog (All Classes), Awoken Coldiron Chest, Awoken Coldiron Helm, Awoken Coldiron Barding and Mount
- Emotes: Strength Test Emote (Barbarian), Cage Puppetry Emote (Necromancer)
- Platinum: 666 Platinum
How Much is the Diablo 4 Season 1 Battle Pass?
The Premium Battle Pass costs approximately 1,000 Platinum Coins, while the Accelerated Package costs around 2,800 Platinum Coins. Each tier skip costs about 200 Platinum Coins, making it expensive for gamers. Players can purchase Platinum Coins using real money through the in-game top-up shop.
Is the Battle Pass Worth Buying?
The premium Battle Pass is not worth buying unless you are specifically interested in the Coldiron set. The rewards are largely cosmetic and not game-changing.
If you purchased the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition of Diablo 4, you already have access to the premium battle pass. You might as well grind through it, considering it’s already unlocked. However, if you are considering buying the Premium Battle Pass with Platinum Coins, it’s not recommended.
Completing the battle pass will grant you around 666 Platinum Coins, which is not enough to purchase a full costume set from the shop. Additionally, you will need more Platinum Coins to buy the next Battle Pass, which costs approximately 1,000 Platinum Coins. Unless Blizzard adjusts the price or rewards, it’s not a worthwhile investment.
Future revisions to the Battle Pass by Blizzard could make it more worthwhile. The studio could increase the quantity and quality of rewards or lower the price. Until these changes are implemented, the premium Battle Pass remains an expensive purchase with limited value.
