What Are Seasons?
Seasons in Diablo 4 are a recurring content update system that adds new features, quests, and Legendary Items to the game. Each Season lasts for approximately three months, introducing a fresh experience for players. During a Season, you’ll participate in a Season Journey, a set of objectives that you can complete to earn rewards, including Legendary Aspects through the Battle Pass. A new Season character must be created for each Season; you cannot bring your existing characters to the new Season. This allows for a fresh start and encourages experimentation with different builds and classes.
Diablo 4 Season 1, known as the Season of the Malignant, is scheduled to release on July 20th, 2023.
Diablo 4’s Battle Pass Explained
The Diablo 4 Battle Pass is a system that offers a variety of rewards, including cosmetics, titles, and other in-game items. It consists of a single reward track with free and premium tiers. Each Season features a unique Battle Pass with different limited-time items to collect. There’s no need to purchase the Battle Pass to gain access to its rewards. You can enjoy the free tier, which offers various rewards, including Smoldering Ashes and cosmetics, by simply playing the game.
You also have the option to purchase a premium Battle Pass for additional rewards, including unique cosmetics and Platinum, the in-game currency used for other purchases.
The Three Battle Pass Options
The Diablo 4 Battle Pass offers three options to suit different player preferences:
- Free Battle Pass: This is the default Battle Pass that everyone receives. It’s free to access and includes 27 tiers of rewards, such as cosmetics and Smoldering Ashes.
- Premium Battle Pass: This version of the Battle Pass unlocks 27 free and 63 paid-exclusive tiers. It’s available for purchase with 1,000 Platinum, equivalent to $9.99 / £8.39, and provides access to additional rewards, including unique cosmetics and Platinum.
- Accelerated Battle Pass: This option includes the same rewards as the Premium Battle Pass, but also adds 20 tier skips and an exclusive cosmetic. It’s available for purchase with 2,800 Platinum, equivalent to $24.99 / £20.99, allowing you to quickly progress through the tiers and unlock rewards.
Free Battle Pass Benefits
The free Battle Pass provides you with 27 tiers of rewards. These tiers contain items like Smoldering Ashes and cosmetics. As the Battle Pass resets with each Season, you have a limited time to unlock these rewards before the season ends.
Premium Battle Pass Benefits
The Premium Battle Pass offers 27 free tiers and 63 additional paid tiers, giving you more opportunities to earn rewards. You’ll be able to unlock Season-exclusive cosmetics and gain some Platinum as you progress.
Accelerated Battle Pass Benefits
The Accelerated Battle Pass gives you the same rewards as the Premium Battle Pass, but includes 20 tier skips, allowing you to progress more quickly through the tiers. You also receive an exclusive cosmetic that’s not available in other Battle Pass options. The Accelerated Battle Pass is a good choice if you’re joining the Season late or have limited time to play.
