New content for Diablo 4 in 2025
What can I expect in Diablo 4 in 2025? Blizzard presents in its roadmap the content that is still to come in Diablo 4 in 2025. This includes the topics that await you in the seasons, new loot pets, various events and permanent updates for the base game.
When will new content come? The new content will come to the ARPG roughly with each new quarter. It remains to be seen whether the season themes will ultimately be called exactly as shown here. The specified period should correspond to the seasons, so:
- Season 8: April to July – “Belial’s Return”
- Season 9: July to September – “Sins of Horadrim”
- Season 10: September to December – “Hellish Chaos”
Are there new classes? There is nothing in the roadmap about a new class. However, if the upcoming expansion is similar to Vessel of Hatred, a new class could come to Diablo 4 in 2026 with the 2nd DLC.
When is the next expansion coming? The original plan for Diablo 4 was to bring a new expansion every year – the first came in 2024. However, this plan has already had to be postponed with the second expansion.
All seasons in Diablo 4 at a glance
This is what you can expect in 2025 in the “Age of Hate” in Diablo 4:
- “Belial’s Return” (April to July): In Season 8, you’ll take over the powers of 24 bosses when you defeat them, giving you their attacks or passive bonuses to your builds. Belial is one of the three new Hideout bosses that await you. There will be a seasonal “Apparition Raid” event and one for Diablo 4’s 2nd anniversary. There’s a new loot pet, and both the Battle Pass (“Reliquary”) and the Season Journey will be revamped.
- “Sins of Horadrim” (July to September): In the summer, Season 9 revolves around Horadric Powers. The “Order of Horadrim” is a brotherhood of mages founded by Tyrael. There is a new “Dungeon Escalation” event, new permanent activities in the Nightmare Dungeons, and a fresh loot pet. In addition, you will also be able to play Diablo 4 on consoles with a keyboard and mouse.
- “Hellish Chaos” (September to December): Starting in September, which should correspond to Season 10, you will receive Chaos Powers for your builds. The Hell Hordes are getting an update, another loot pet is waiting for you – and additional content is planned, about which Blizzard has not yet revealed anything concrete.
Second expansion and leaderboards coming to Diablo 4 in 2026
This is what you can expect in 2026: The roadmap offers a small insight into the content for the coming year. Among other things, you can expect the following:
- a new expansion
- a new ranking system
- Leaderboards
Originally, it was planned to deliver an expansion for Diablo 4 every year. Vessel of Hatred was already delayed because the team put more resources into improving quality – and this entails a delay in further development. The second DLC for Diablo 4 is therefore not scheduled until 2026.
With the revision of the Battle Pass system, the team wants to respond to the feedback of the community and make the pass more customizable. In the “Campfire Chat” livestream on YouTube on March 7, 2025, community director Adam Fletcher explained that players should get the rewards they really want.
The basic recipe of the seasons is apparently staying true – it’s still about new, powerful powers. In Season 7, it’s the witch powers that complement your builds.
With Season 8, new bosses will move permanently into the game and the summoning of bosses in Diablo 4 will also receive an adjustment. You no longer need materials to summon the bosses. For the Mats, however, you can open chests for more loot after the boss fight.
On top of that, Blizzard is tweaking the difficulty in Diablo 4 in Season 8 – only the top 10% of players should even make it to Torment Level 4. You should no longer be able to one-shot bosses – if you can make it to the level at all. On top of that, there is a new boss, Belial, who should really make you sweat.
