Diablo 4: Blood Season - Midwinter Blight Guide

Diablo 4 Season of Blood: Midwinter Blight Event Guide

What is Midwinter Blight in Diablo 4?

The Diablo 4 Midwinter Blight event is a seasonal celebration, akin to a winter holiday event, running from December 12, 2023, to January 2, 2024. This three-week-long event takes place exclusively within the Seasonal Realm, meaning a seasonal character is needed to participate. No other prerequisites exist; access is available from World Tier 1. The event focuses on helping a bard named Gileon restore a Fractured Peaks tradition. This involves battling the Red-Cloaked Horror and its Blightfiends, aimed at transforming the typically bleak winter into a more festive occasion. Players aid the bard in revitalizing this tradition honoring those lost.

Where to Find the Red-Cloaked Horror in Midwinter Blight

The Red-Cloaked Horror, the key boss for acquiring Midwinter Proof, is found during the “Blighted Revelry” event in Fractured Peaks. This is a randomized public event.

  • To trigger the event, you need to complete the mastery objective: destroy all Frigid Husks.
  • Frigid Husks can be damaged only while inside a burning orange fire circle.
  • Periodically interact with the burning wagon in the center to rekindle the circle.
  • Once all husks are destroyed, the Red-Cloaked Horror appears. Its defeat yields the Red-Cloaked Trophy, which directly converts to Midwinter Proofs.

The boss fight is standard, allowing for efficient farming of Midwinter Proof resources.

How to Farm Midwinter Proofs

Two methods are available for efficiently acquiring Midwinter Proofs:

  • Fractured Peaks Events: The most effective approach. While monster density within the general Fractured Peaks area is low, focusing on Blighted Revelry events allows you to quickly gather materials. Move between events as they respawn. The Gale Valley area around the Yelesnya Waypoint is moderately productive.
  • Nightmare Dungeons (World Tier 3+): Offers some event-related items, but is less efficient than Fractured Peaks events for farming Midwinter Proofs in general.

How to Get the Shard of Dawn Aspect in Diablo 4

The Shard of Dawn Aspect, a sought-after item, can be purchased directly from Gileon’s shop within Kyovashad, located in the Fractured Peaks. The cost is 10 Midwinter Proofs. To get Midwinter Proofs, you need to exchange various currencies at the Collection Table in Kyovashad.

  • Blighted Fragments: Found by killing monsters.
  • Lost Heirlooms: Dropped from destroying the Frigid Husks.
  • Red-Cloaked Trophies: The reward for defeating the Red-Cloaked Horror.

The most efficient way to gather these currencies is through the Blighted Revelry event. Look for circular event areas where numerous enemies surround a burning wagon. Destroy the enemies and interact with the wagon to initiate the event. Protect the wagon as the fire grows, which will eventually unfreeze Frigid Husks for destruction. Defeat the resulting Red-Cloaked Horror for the associated trophy.

The exchange rate for each currency at the Collection Table is 300 Blighted Fragments, 30 Lost Heirlooms, or 1 Red-Cloaked Trophy per 1 Midwinter Proof. Once you accumulate 10 Midwinter Proofs, you can purchase the Shard of Dawn Aspect from Gileon.

Should you need more Midwinter Proofs, simply return to the Fractured Peaks, continue monster slaying and event participation to accumulate the necessary currencies. Remember to explore, interact with the environment, and complete relevant quests, such as the “Secret of the Spring” quest, while seeking additional Midwinter Proof resources.
