Cyberpunk 2077 Tips: Rusty & Returning Players

Cyberpunk 2077: Best Tips for Rusty and Returning Players

Fast Travel

Night City, sprawling and vibrant, isn’t without a helpful shortcut. The fast travel system lets you skip long walks between key locations. Locate the blue fast-travel nodes on your map. Approach them, and interact with the designated terminal. This will open your map, allowing you to select your desired destination. Note that you cannot teleport directly to a node. Instead, you have to walk to it and interact with the terminal, simplifying travel and making exploration much quicker.

Character and Perk Trees

Character customization in Cyberpunk 2077 is more refined. The skill trees have been overhauled. Begin by accessing the character screen. From there, you’ll gain attribute points through leveling up. These points can then be spent across five categories (Intelligence, Technical Ability, Reflex, Cool, and Body). Each attribute boost gives passive bonuses. For instance, Intelligence boosts RAM slots, while Technical Ability impacts your armor. Each attribute also unlocks different perk trees, allowing you to develop specific character builds. Explore each tree and select the perks that align with your desired playstyle. Also note the Relic tree exclusive to the Phantom Liberty expansion, leveled via terminals in Dogtown.

Cyberware

Cyberware, the game’s unique customization system, allows for an array of augmentations. Cyberware modifies your body and allows you to enhance various attributes, like your hacking, agility, or strength. Each of the 10 categories affects you differently, and your chosen build will influence the cyberware you should acquire. Remember to consider the cost, and your current capacity as some augmentation options will be more expensive and can add to your overall maximum cyberware capacity. Ripperdocs are your primary vendors for installing Cyberware, typically located in larger vendor hubs.

What to Sell

Night City is filled with loot, but not everything is worth keeping. Locate Drop Points scattered across the city, resembling kiosks. You can sell unwanted weapons, items, and junk to efficiently manage your inventory and boost your income. Most basic weapons sell for a reasonable amount of credits, typically around $2,000. Prioritize selling items you won’t use, allowing you to accumulate credits effectively. Don’t hesitate to sell alcohol; it reduces your abilities rather than enhancing them.

How to Get Ammo

Ammo isn’t automatically dropped alongside enemy weapons. To replenish ammunition, look around for ammo crates, often highlighted with a white AMMO marker on your scanner. Furthermore, you can craft ammo using components, typically available by disassembling or looting items. As a last resort, consider purchasing ammo directly from weapons vendors for efficient replenishing during combat encounters.

Shards

Shards are supplemental items that enhance various aspects of your game experience. The shards you encounter automatically apply their effect to your character. Collect them and see a range of bonuses from increased credit accumulation to enhanced cyberware capacity, or even your overall inventory carrying capacity. No need for additional actions to activate or use their potential, they are instantly effective upon being added to your collection.

Hacking or Breach Protocol Explained

Hacking in Cyberpunk 2077 is a satisfying but complex minigame. Solve the hacking puzzle by carefully considering the numbers displayed, and strategically connecting columns and rows. A logical approach to connect the numbers is essential for success. Pay attention to pattern recognition; understanding how numbers relate to each other is key to unlocking the hacking potential that lies within the game’s interactive elements.

Where to Get Vehicles, and How to Summon Them

Vehicles are a crucial aspect of navigating Night City. Purchase vehicles from the auto-fixer terminals, easily located on your map. Complete vehicle delivery missions to earn discounts and acquire a wider selection of vehicles. You can purchase these and potentially even weaponize your rides. Vehicles can be summoned using the V key or the appropriate D-pad button, providing a swift method of transportation throughout Night City.

Inventory Management

The 2.0 update simplifies inventory management. Within the inventory screen, you’ll find tabs for weapons, clothing, cyberware, quick access, backpack, crafting, and stats. Your quick access tab is also reorganized to hold items used for health replenishment and grenades. This means you can equip and use these without having to look for them in your inventory, simplifying item management during battle.

Quick Access: Respawning Health Packs and Grenades

Using the Quick Access menu, you can quickly access health items and grenades. Equip various types of health packs and grenades to effectively handle health emergencies or combat needs. Upon using them, the Quick Access icons will show a cooldown before the next use, making the replenishing process much simpler. This revised method enhances efficiency and responsiveness during gameplay.

Crafting

Crafting in Cyberpunk 2077 is incredibly streamlined. Instead of needing separate crafting tables, you can craft items directly within the inventory menu. Gain crafting recipes by looting or buying blueprints from vendors. Disassemble weapons or clothing to obtain the necessary crafting components. Crafting allows for significant cost savings and customizable weapon or quickhack upgrades, potentially allowing you to obtain the gear you need much cheaper.

Character and Gear Appearance

You’re no longer constrained by a predetermined character appearance. Visit Ripperdocs to modify your character’s appearance. Alternatively, access your apartment’s bathroom mirror for visual tweaks and changes. A transmog system allows you to customize your gear’s visual appearance through outfits, without affecting item stats. Select clothing from stores or your apartment closets to create up to five outfits tailored to your liking. This feature enhances your character’s customization experience without impacting in-game attributes.
