The Division 2: Unlocking Agent Power

The Division 2’s Skill system is a crucial element of a player’s success, providing a diverse range of abilities to enhance their combat effectiveness. This guide explores each of the eight available Skills and their unique variations, showcasing the potential for customization and strategic depth.

How many Skills are available in the game?

The Division 2 features a total of eight unique Skills, each offering distinct functionalities and providing agents with a diverse array of tactical options. Each Skill comes with additional variations, allowing players to further customize their loadouts.

1. Chem Launcher

  • Variations: Firestarter, Riot Foam, Oxidizer, Reinforcer.
  • Strategy: The Chem Launcher excels in both offense and defense, depending on the chosen variation. Firestarter and Oxidizer offer aggressive options, with Firestarter inflicting burning damage and Oxidizer reducing enemy armor effectiveness. Riot Foam serves as a potent crowd control tool, while Reinforcer provides area-of-effect armor restoration for allies.

2. Drone

  • Variations: Striker, Defender, Tactician (Sharpshooter), Bombardier, Fixer.
  • Strategy: Drones offer a versatile toolkit, ranging from offensive to defensive roles. Striker and Bombardier focus on dealing damage, while Defender and Fixer provide defensive support. Tactician, exclusive to the Sharpshooter specialization, aids in detecting hidden enemies and disrupting their abilities.

3. Hive

  • Variations: Stinger, Restorer, Booster, Reviver.
  • Strategy: While predominantly defensive, the Hive offers an offensive variation in Stinger. The other variations prioritize survival: Restorer replenishes armor, Booster enhances performance, and Reviver offers a second chance in combat or revives downed allies.

4. Seeker Mine

  • Variations: Explosive, Airburst, Mender (Survivalist), Cluster.
  • Strategy: The Seeker Mine excels in offensive tactics, with variations like Explosive and Airburst targeting enemies and inflicting significant damage. Cluster diversifies the attack by splitting into multiple seekers, while Mender, exclusive to the Survivalist specialization, serves as a defensive option, providing armor restoration for the player or nearby allies.

5. Turret

  • Variations: Assault, Incinerator, Artillery (Demolitionist), Sniper.
  • Strategy: All Turret variations are designed for offensive combat. The Assault Turret provides continuous damage output to the nearest enemy, while Incinerator creates an area-of-effect fire zone. The Sniper Turret demands precise positioning but delivers potent single-target damage, and Artillery, exclusive to the Demolitionist specialization, unleashes devastating area-of-effect attacks.

6. Firefly

  • Variations: Blinder, Demolisher, Burster.
  • Strategy: The Firefly, though unique in concept, is currently the least popular Skill. Blinder inflicts blindness on enemies, hindering their visibility. Demolisher exposes enemy weak points for increased damage output, while Burster attaches explosive charges that detonate when two affected enemies come close.

7. Pulse

  • Variations: Scanner, Remote Sensor, Jammer, Banshee (Gunner).
  • Strategy: The Pulse Skill caters to a more tactical playstyle. Scanner and Remote Sensor provide enemy detection capabilities, while Jammer disrupts enemy gadgets. Banshee, available through the Gunner specialization, disorients enemies with a forward-arc sonic wave.

8. Shield

  • Variations: Ballistic Bulwark, Remote Sensor, Deflector.
  • Strategy: The Shield Skill offers purely defensive options. Ballistic Bulwark, a carryover from the first Division, provides a full-body shield but restricts the player to sidearm combat. Remote Sensor offers protection for the torso while allowing primary weapon usage. Deflector redirects incoming bullets to a designated area.

Choose Wisely

The Division 2 Skills offer a significant degree of customization and strategic depth, allowing players to tailor their loadouts to their preferred playstyle. Each Skill and its variations can significantly enhance a player’s combat capabilities, whether they prefer offense, defense, or a combination of both.

With the promise of more specializations and potential Skill variations in the future, the possibilities for building unique and effective agents in The Division 2 are vast and ever-expanding. As players continue to experiment and explore the diverse options available, they will discover their own optimal combinations for conquering the challenging world of The Division 2.
