I’ve logged over 115 hours in Baldur’s Gate 3 and am deeply immersed in the third act. While I won’t spoil anything, Larian’s writing truly shines in this act, presenting weighty roleplaying decisions. The crucial choice you face before committing to a final plan is devilishly ingenious. The stakes are high, and bold decisions are demanded, significantly impacting the outcome.

The tension and storytelling reach new heights as I navigate a complex web of possibilities, each demanding compromises on my beliefs. It’s a compelling narrative that doesn’t assume heroism, but forces players to prove their worth.

Baldur’s Gate, the sprawling city we finally reached, is a vibrant hub brimming with life and adventure. Nearly every citizen has insights into unfolding events, and my exploration consistently rewards me with new lore, loot, and quests. Larian has packed the streets with an impressive amount of voice acting, and the quality is consistently high. It’s refreshing to play an RPG where even minor characters are professionally voiced and distinct.

Is 100 hours too long for a single playthrough of an RPG?

While Baldur’s Gate 3 offers an incredible amount of content, the city’s visual complexity does come at a cost. Even on my RTX 3080, I had to lower graphics settings to maintain a smooth framerate.

With answers found and a clear path forward, I’m determinedly navigating the underworld, encountering both new and familiar enemies. Despite the extensive playtime, I find myself reluctant to see Baldur’s Gate 3 end. However, all good things must come to an end, and you can expect my final thoughts later this week.
