Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8, slated for release in 2025, is set to introduce a wealth of exciting enhancements. A significant portion of this update centers around the addition of twelve new subclasses, each designed to bolster the existing character classes. Larian Studios, the game’s developers, are confident that these new specializations will add unique depth to the gameplay experience.
- Bard – College of Glamour: This new bard subclass empowers players with both healing and commanding capabilities. Abilities like Mantle of Inspiration grant temporary hit points to allies, while Mantle of Majesty allows players to command charmed enemies to flee or act in various ways.
- Barbarian – Path of Giants: Embrace the Path of Giants and experience increased strength and size. The Giant’s Rage passive enhances throw attacks and increases carry capacity.
- Cleric – Death Domain: This cleric subclass delves into necrotic damage and necromancy. New cantrips, including Toll The Dead, allow for varied strategies. Larian has incorporated a unique homebrewed ability enabling exploding corpses for added damage.
- Druid – Circle of Stars: Druids can now access celestial powers through three different Starry Forms (Archer, Chalice, Dragon). Each provides unique advantages, whether focused on dealing radiant damage, restoring health, or enhancing constitution rolls.
- Paladin – Oath of the Crown: As a Paladin of the Crown, focus on supporting your party and disrupting enemies. Abilities like Righteous Clarity offer guidance and support for allies, while Divine Allegiance safeguards their health.
- Fighter – Arcane Archer: This Fighter subclass harmonizes magic and marksmanship. Expect new shooting animations and unique abilities like banishing enemies to the Feywild or dealing psychic damage.
- Monk – Drunken Master: The Drunken Master is a unique Monk class, allowing alcohol consumption to regenerate Ki. The ability to share bottles with enemies using Intoxicating Strike generates buffs to Armor Class and Chance to hit.
- Ranger – Swarmkeeper: The Swarmkeeper class provides Rangers with swarms of enemies, including jellyfish, moths, and bees, each offering different effects. These swarms enhance combat strategies, offering a range of damage and crowd control options.
- Rogue – Swashbuckler: Embrace a piratical lifestyle with the Swashbuckler subclass, featuring options like blinding enemies with sand, disarming opponents, and utilizing Fancy Footwork to avoid opportunity attacks.
- Sorcerer – Shadow Magic: In the shadows, you command a unique sorcery. This subclass offers Superior Darkvision, Shadow Walk, and the summoning of the Hound of Ill Omen. It also features Strength of the Grave to prevent being downed.
- Warlock – Hexblade: Warlocks forge a pact with entities from the Shadowfell. This class features magical weapons, curses, and the ability to raise slain enemies’ spirits for temporary combat advantages.
