Diablo 4 Season 6, along with the Vessel of Hatred expansion, introduces a host of exciting new features. Additionally, the update revamps core mechanics across the board, impacting all players regardless of whether they opt for the expansion.

Below we list the content you can get for free in October and content for which you have to purchase Vessel of Hatred. Since the release is just under two weeks away, features can be added here and there – such as new dungeons or items. We will then adapt the article.

New content you get for free

What content do I get for free? If you already own an edition of Diablo 4 on PC or console, Season 6 and Vessel of Hatred will give you access to various new content. There will also be some adjustments to the base game. Diablo boss Rod Fergusson said: What Season 4 was for loot, Season 6 is for progress.

It is still unclear which seasonal features will come into play in Season 6. Blizzard has also not revealed the season theme so far. If you’ve played the PTR and paid close attention there, you’ve already seen it.

This is what all Diablo 4 players will get:

  • Customized progression system with level 60 max level and separate Paragon and character levels
  • New difficulty system with four standard difficulty levels and four agony levels. The world levels are turned upside down after criticism
  • New Skills and Paragon Boards for All Classes
  • Changed Features of the Pit and Nightmare Dungeons
    • In the pit you unlock difficulty levels and level up your glyphs, in the nightmare dungeons you get mats, which you need for masterworking
  • Customized Items – “Holy” items will be abolished, “bequeathed” items will always drop with the highest item power of 800 from “Torment 1”
  • Changed Masterworking, for which you only need Obpsy and can only complete “bequeathed” items up to 12 times, all other items up to 4 times
  • Group finder for all kinds of endgame activities
  • New and changed gemstones
  • The ability to mark a waypoint as a favorite

Content that you can only get with a purchase of “Vessel of Hatred”

What content do I have to pay for? In addition to the content that you get “for free” – i.e. if you already own Diablo 4 – there is also content that you can only use if you buy the expansion:

  • The new Nahantu region
  • Dungeons, bases, basements, events, etc. located in Nahantu
  • A continuation of the campaign
  • The new Spiritborn class
  • Runic Words
  • Mercenaries who fight by your side
  • The Co-op Dungeon, the “Dark Citadel”
  • The time attack dungeon with several phases, the “Lower City of Kurast”

To unlock the “Skip” function for the Vessel of Hatred campaign, you must first play through the campaign. Some players reacted annoyed, others said: It’s logical.

At the beginning of September, many players were able to test a few new features on the PTR. Even during the test, there was criticism in places: The test for the 1st expansion is over, but many players are dissatisfied with what they have already seen.
But that doesn’t have to mean anything, because Blizzard has been making sure to implement player feedback as satisfactorily as possible for several months. In a livestream on October 2, the developers want to say more about the upcoming update.
