Best Necromancer Builds in D2R
Necromancers in Diablo 2: Resurrected are a unique class offering versatility in damage, crowd control, and survivability. Their varied playstyles let you choose between a powerful caster dealing poison and curse damage, or a commanding figure controlling legions of summoned skeletons. The choice depends on your preferred combat style and play preference.
Summon Necromancer
The Summon Necromancer, also known as the Summonamancer, is a popular starting build for its relative ease of play. This build focuses on managing and commanding summoned skeletons and other minions in combat. You’re the strategist, applying curses and directing bone armies, rather than actively participating in melee combat. This passive approach offers strong survivability due to the skeletons’ damage and the curses.
Recommended Equipment
- Helm: Harlequin Crest Shako
- Armor: Enigma
- Gloves: Trang-Oul’s Claws
- Belt: Arachnid Mesh
- Boots: Marrowalk
- Shield: Homunculus
- Amulet: Mara’s Kaleidoscope
- Rings: Stone of Jordan
Recommended Skill Points Distribution
- Maximize: Raise Skeletal Mage, Raise Skeleton, Corpse Explosion
- Allocate one point to: Teeth, Dim Vision, Decrepify, Clay Golem, Amplify Damage, Terror, Revive, Summon Resist, Iron Golem, Blood Golem
The key to success is leveraging Corpse Explosion to create a chain reaction of minion damage. Quickly apply Amplify Damage curses to maximize minion damage and ensure rapid corpse generation. While individual minion control is limited, Teleporting alongside your minions (Tele-Stomping) allows better coordinated attacks against enemies.
Diablo 2: Resurrected Bonemancer
The Bonemancer style diverges significantly from the Summon Necromancer. This build emphasizes direct participation in combat, using bone-based attacks and skills, instead of relying on summoned minions. The Bonemancer build is often a good choice for players familiar with Necromancer mechanics who are comfortable handling combat on their own.
Recommended Equipment (Bonemancer)
- Rune Word “White” for bonus bone skills. Note that higher resistance Heart of the Oaks might be valuable in later stages.
- Homunculus or Spirit Shield
- Harlequin Crest Shako
- Enigma
- Trang-Oul’s Claws
- Sandstorm Treks or War Traveler boots
- Mara’s Kaleidoscope Amulet
- Stone of Jordan Rings
- Arachnid Mesh Belt
Recommended Skill Points Distribution (Bonemancer)
- Maximize: Teeth, Bone Wall, Bone Spear, Bone Spirit
- Allocate one point to: Bone Armor, Corpse Explosion, Clay Golem, Golem Mastery, Amplify Damage
Bone Spear is the primary skill for dealing with groups of enemies, while Bone Spirit is excellent for single-target engagements. “Teeth” should be a go-to skill to quickly take care of many enemies before upgrading to Bone Spear. Focus on efficient use of curses, particularly Amplify Damage, to amplify your overall damage output.
Crafting rings or amulets with bonus Necromancer skills can significantly enhance your build’s potential. Finding high-resistance gear or items with faster cast rates can prove useful.
