Cyberpunk 2077 and Phantom Liberty update 2.13 patch notes:
CD Projekt Red, the developer behind Cyberpunk 2077, has finally delivered on its promise of adding AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 (FSR3) with Frame Generation to the PC version of the game. This update comes as part of patch 2.13, which is currently being rolled out exclusively for PC gamers. Despite the version mismatch between PC and console versions, cross-progression will continue to function seamlessly.
FSR3: A New Era of Visual Fidelity
AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 (FSR3) is a cutting-edge technology that combines image upscaling with frame generation. This powerful combination results in higher resolution frames at remarkably fast frame rates, significantly enhancing the visual experience for players. FSR3 can be enabled in the game’s settings under “Graphics” in the “Quick Preset” section, as explained by CD Projekt Red on its website.
A separate setting is available for enabling FSR Frame Generation. Importantly, FSR Frame Generation can only be activated when FSR3 upscaling is already enabled.
A Long-Awaited Feature
The addition of FSR3 marks the culmination of a long wait for Cyberpunk 2077 players. CD Projekt Red had initially announced plans to implement FSR3 support back in May, but uncertainties arose after the developer announced that its dedicated Cyberpunk 2077 team had been reassigned following the release of the Phantom Liberty expansion.
These uncertainties led to concerns among fans about the future of FSR3 support for the game. However, CD Projekt Red has now proven its commitment to providing ongoing support for Cyberpunk 2077, even after the development team shifted its focus to future projects like Cyberpunk 2 and the upcoming Witcher games.
Patch 2.13: More Than Just FSR3
Patch 2.13 goes beyond the addition of FSR3, introducing a range of improvements and enhancements for Cyberpunk 2077.
Key Improvements:
- AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 with Frame Generation: As previously discussed, this update provides PC gamers with access to FSR3’s cutting-edge visual enhancements.
- Intel Xe Super Sampling 1.3 Support: This update expands the range of upscaling technologies available to players, adding support for Intel’s Xe Super Sampling (XeSS) in version 1.3.
- Combined DLAA and DLSS Ray Reconstruction: The ability to enable both DLAA (Deep Learning Anti-Aliasing) and DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) Ray Reconstruction simultaneously has been added, providing players with greater control over their desired visual settings.
- New “Utilities” Tab: A new “Utilities” tab has been introduced in the game’s settings, consolidating options for HDD Mode, Hybrid CPU Utilization, and AMD Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT) for easier access and management.
- Stability and Visual Fixes: Patch 2.13 also incorporates a variety of bug fixes and visual improvements to enhance the overall gameplay experience.
These enhancements demonstrate CD Projekt Red’s ongoing commitment to delivering a polished and enjoyable experience for Cyberpunk 2077 players. While the development team has moved on to future projects, the release of patch 2.13 reaffirms their dedication to supporting this critically acclaimed open-world RPG.
