Creative Assembly Making Total War: Star Wars Game

Total War: Star Wars Game Reportedly in the Works at Creative Assembly

Strategy game specialists Creative Assembly are reportedly working on a Total War Star Wars video game. This news comes from DualShockers, who report that Total War: Star Wars is one of three new Total War games currently in development at the Sega-owned studio. iGV has contacted Sega for comment.

Creative Assembly’s Recent Struggles

Creative Assembly has faced challenges in recent years. The live-service shooter Hyenas was cancelled, and Total War: Pharaoh, released last year, failed to meet sales expectations. The studio also apologized for missteps made with Total War: Warhammer 3 DLC.

Sega’s Recent Actions

In March, Sega announced sweeping layoffs affecting Sega Europe, Creative Assembly, and Sonic Dream Team developer Hardlight. Sega also sold Company of Heroes and Dawn of War developer Relic Entertainment. At the time, Sega told iGV that Creative Assembly “continues to have multiple projects in development with Total War and a new unannounced project.”

Fan Demand for a Star Wars Game

Total War fans have been asking Creative Assembly to create a Star Wars game for years. Many fans believe that the studio’s experience with historical and fantasy strategy games would make them well-suited to create a Total War: Star Wars game. However, there are also many fans who believe that Creative Assembly should focus on expanding the Warhammer franchise, with many calling for a Total War: Warhammer 40,000 game.

Gamescom 2024

Creative Assembly has traditionally used gamescom as a platform to unveil new games. We may learn more about Total War: Star Wars at gamescom 2024, which is scheduled to launch in August.
