Follow the Leader
Want your Pokemon to follow you on your adventures in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet? It’s a feature that brings back nostalgia from Pokemon Yellow and allows you to bond with your Pokemon while exploring the world. To unlock this feature, you’ll need to progress through the game until you reach the first Pokemon Center in Los Platos. This is where Nemona introduces you to the “Let’s Go” feature.
Similar to the Pokemon: Let’s Go games, you can use the “Let’s Go” feature to have your chosen Pokemon walk alongside you. This adds a touch of personalization to your journey, letting you explore the world with your favorite Pokemon by your side.
The Difference Between R and ZR
There are two ways to release your Pokemon from their Poke Ball: the R button and the ZR button. Each button offers different functionalities:
R Button
- Auto-battle: Your Pokemon will automatically engage in battles with wild Pokemon they encounter while roaming.
- Item collection: They’ll pick up items scattered around the environment.
- Leveling up: Winning battles grants your Pokemon experience points.
- Pokedex updates: Encounters with Pokemon will update your Pokedex, even if you don’t catch them.
ZR Button
- Passive follow: Your Pokemon will stay by your side and won’t engage in battles automatically.
- Target wild Pokemon: You can aim your Pokemon at specific wild Pokemon for battles and catching.
- Group battles: Aiming at a group of Pokemon allows your Pokemon to engage in simultaneous battles, earning more experience points and materials.
Be Friends With Your Pokemon
Having your Pokemon follow you is not just a fun visual effect; it also plays a crucial role in deepening your bond with them. The more time you spend exploring with your Pokemon by your side, the stronger your friendship becomes. This bond will translate into better performance in battles, as your Pokemon will fight harder and more effectively.
Keep an eye on your Pokemon’s health while they’re out. If their health drops to zero, they’ll automatically return to their Poke Ball and be replaced by the next Pokemon in your team. To ensure your Pokemon can continue exploring alongside you, remember to heal them periodically at Pokemon Centers or using healing items.
