All AC Shadows Allies Guide: How To Recruit Them

Assassin’s Creed Shadows offers a diverse roster of allies, each with unique skills. Recruiting them, however, often requires specific dialogue choices and quest completions. This guide details how to recruit each ally, ensuring you have the best team for your battles.

Yaya

Yaya, a powerful rikishi, can be recruited after completing two crucial quests: “Heads Will Roll” and “The Stray Dogs.” During these quests, you encounter opponents. Crucially, choose to spare the targets, rather than killing them, to gain her support.

Yaya’s strength lies in her ability to stagger and knock down enemies, making her a valuable addition to your fighting force.

Ibuki

Ibuki, a fierce ally for Yasuke, excels at inflicting posture damage and breaking armor. To recruit Ibuki, you must play as Yasuke, and complete the quests “Ambush Interrupted” and “Homecoming.” During “Ambush Interrupted”, select the dialogue option “I have changed.” In “Homecoming,” allow Kyobei to join the fight.

Importantly, save Kyobei before he perishes to unlock the opportunity to romance Ibuki.

Oni-yuri

Oni-yuri is a stealth-focused ally who excels in poison and sleep attacks, ideal for Naoe. Recruit her after finishing the “Sweet Lies” and “Sweet Revenge” quests in Wakasa. In “Sweet Lies,” avoid accusing her of poisoning the villagers.

Her stealth and poison skills will significantly benefit your missions.

Gennojo

Gennojo, another skilled stealth ally for Naoe, excels at distracting enemies. Recruit him by completing the “Missing Missive” quest. Instead of killing the thief, talk to him. Then, in “Sake and Swords,” agree to join him.

Crucially, in “Honor Among Thieves”, choose “I’m keeping it then” when asked for the scroll. Finally, during “The Godless Harvest,” choose to soothe Gennojo, rather than stop him or do nothing.

Katsuhime

Katsuhime, a ranged support ally, utilizes a teppo. Begin by completing the “Against the Koga-ryu” quest. The key moment for her recruitment is during “The Diary of Lady Rokkaku.” This quest is time-sensitive, so act quickly to save Katsuhime.

Kill Isono Kazumasa to save her, then successfully carry her out of the castle. Lastly, select “Yes, join us” in the subsequent dialogue.

Yagoro

Yagoro, a ranged assassin, is recruited through a multi-stage process. First, progress through Yasuke’s questline until reaching “The Lords of Azuchi.” Next, switch to Naoe and complete “Wolves and Foxes.” Then, in “Secrets of the Blade,” speak with Hattori Hanzo. This leads to “A Blade in the Dark.”

Finally, in the subsequent dialogue, choose “You have potential,” and in the duel, ensure Yagoro submits. Then, select “It is a symbol” to officially recruit him.
