iGV's take on Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
Okay, here is the review based on the outline you provided.

What I said about Pokémon Legends: Arceus

I have mixed feelings about Pokémon Legends: Arceus. It introduces revolutionary systems to the franchise, shedding stale battle mechanics and an outdated progression system that needed a shake-up. Catching and battling are incredibly fun, even after many hours. However, while Legends: Arceus is the closest the series has ever been to capturing the feeling of catching and battling in my imagination, its attempt at a genre shift is set in an underwhelming world that is empty, unattractive, and sometimes tedious. While the new gameplay direction excites me, I wish equal care and attention had been devoted to every aspect of the adventure. Pokémon Legends: Arceus offers the best experience for catching and collecting Pokémon, but its ambition deserved a better environment.

Common predictions include classic favorites like Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle, and recent generations have also brought many exciting options. But Reb, I’m playing this on the Switch 1!

The game was primarily assessed using the Nintendo Switch 2, so the points about performance and visuals are based on that specific platform. However, some hours were also spent playing it on the Switch 1 after launch. Understandably, it does not perform as well on the weaker system. Loading times are slightly longer. When rotating the camera, the environment has a shimmery quality. Also, certain textures are noticeably worse; they appear blurrier and of lower quality. The frame rate is designed for 30 FPS, but it is not always stable, resulting in some noticeable lagging. Even at close ranges, objects and characters have considerable pop-in issues.

On the other hand, none of these issues are game-breaking and is a substantial improvement compared to Scarlet and Violet. If you are accustomed to using those games on Switch 1, you probably won’t mind. However, the multiple minor performance issues add up quickly. Hopefully, this will be the final Pokémon game on Switch 1.
