The Sunwell burns differently now.

When World of Warcraft: Midnight launched on March 2, 2026, it did not arrive quietly. Xal’atath, having gained unprecedented power, summoned the Voidstorm above the Isle of Quel’Danas and commanded the Devouring Host — a vast army of void creatures — to lay siege to the Sunwell, a fount of light magic sacred to the blood elves. The invasion was immediate, the stakes were explicit, and the story finally felt like it was moving forward with intent.

For European players who have lived through every expansion’s promises, Midnight delivers something that’s been missing for years: a coherent, character-driven narrative with real consequences. And it starts immediately.

Quel’Thalas Rebuilt

Midnight reintroduces a revamped Quel’Thalas as the primary setting. Players begin their journey in Eversong Woods, but from there can choose to tackle Zul’Aman, Harandar, or accompany Arator in any order, with Voidstorm unlocking as the final zone.

Silvermoon City has been rebuilt from the ground up. The path of destruction the Scourge left behind is mostly a memory. Both Horde and Alliance fortify within its streets — approximately one-third designated exclusively for the Horde, the remaining two-thirds accessible to both factions.

Walking through the new Silvermoon after twelve years of the original’s crumbling, half-reconstructed version is genuinely striking. The architectural scale, the lighting, the NPCs populating the city’s new districts — it feels like a capital that has actually healed.

Season 1: The Raids of Midnight

Midnight Season 1 launched on March 17, 2026, bringing with it Heroic and Mythic 0 dungeons, two new raids — the Voidspire and the Dreamrift — and the start of PvP Season 1. Twelve new Delves and a new Nemesis Delve opened alongside new companion Valeera Sanguinar.

The raid structure in Midnight is staggered and deliberate. In Season 1, players face off against nine bosses split across three raid dungeons. The conflict with Xal’atath is explicitly not resolved in early raids — the season is designed to build tension gradually toward later patches. This approach rewards sustained engagement over time rather than burning through all the story in the first week.

The Feature Players Have Waited Years For: Housing

Midnight adds a player housing feature that allows players to obtain and customise personal spaces within Azeroth using items earned through gameplay, professions, and achievements. Housing early access was available from December 2025, and the full feature launched with the expansion. The ability to place Elven architectural decor, invite guild members to your neighbourhood, and craft a personalised slice of Quel’Thalas has driven more community conversation than almost any other Midnight feature.

The New Demon Hunter Spec: Devourer

Midnight introduces the Devourer Demon Hunter — a third specialisation utilising the power of the Void instead of Fel. This glaive-wielding, soul-harvesting spellcaster operates from mid-range, with the full mobility of a Demon Hunter and new Hero Talents shared with Vengeance. For EU players who have mained Demon Hunter since Legion and wanted a narrative reason to engage with Void lore, this is a significant addition.
