Vykas Gate 1 Guide: Lost Ark

Incubus Morphe Special Mechanics

This section focuses on the core mechanics of the Incubus Morphe (blue boss) encounter in Vykas Gate 1. Successfully navigating these mechanics is crucial for raid progression.

Orbs to Gates

This mechanic appears around 49 HP bars. The boss teleports to the center, creating a white circle. After an explosion, players must position themselves. Orbs spawn, and players must guide them to matching colored gates.

  • Orb colors are always in the order: red, blue, green, white, black.
  • Gates at 1 and 7 o’clock are red or green.
  • Gates at 5 and 11 o’clock are blue or white.
  • Top orbs tend to drift left, and bottom orbs drift right.
  • Failing this mechanic can be mitigated with Time Stop Potion (Normal) or results in raid failure (Hard).

Blue Black Orbs

This mechanic happens around 37 HP bars. The boss teleports and begins gathering energy, initiating a stagger check. Whirlwind Grenades and high-stagger skills are essential here.

  • Success results in players receiving either a blue or black orb above their heads.
  • Black orbs position at 1 and 7 o’clock.
  • Blue orbs position at 5 and 11 o’clock.
  • A series of circles light up, corresponding to the orb colors.
  • Players must body-block the orbs, preventing them from reaching the boss. Failure necessitates a raid restart.
  • Following success, a safe zone appears, and its location (near or far from the boss) must be communicated to the other raid party.

Switch

At 30 HP bars on both bosses, the two raid parties switch sides. After the switch, anticipate an explosion. The side that started on the purple boss will then face the Incubus Morphe, which will have around 30 HP bars remaining. If the blue boss gets to 25 bars, he teleports and charge, and the other raid party should be at the white circle.

  • Communicate the safe zone to the other party.

Blue Black Orbs

Around 12 HP bars, the Incubus Morphe initiates the stagger check and the Blue Black Orbs mechanic once again. This is the final major mechanic of the encounter.

  • Success requires proper positioning and body-blocking.
  • Communicate the location of the safe zone (inside or outside) to the other raid party.
  • Following this mechanic, no further major mechanics occur. The Nightmarish Morphe has no unique mechanics; players must simply position themselves in the safe zones dictated by the other party.

Quick question

Q: I have the blue orb. What clock position do I need to go to?

A: 5 or 11 o’clock

Q: We have just finished the 37 bar mechanic. Where is safe?

A: Near or away from the boss. It is different every time.

Normal Patterns

Understanding the normal attack patterns of Incubus Morphe is vital for survival and consistent damage output. Blue boss AoEs are red. Be sure to avoid these areas.

One-Two-Kick

The boss executes a standard punch combo, followed by a 270-degree kick. When performing this, stay behind the boss for the punch combo, then watch for the telegraph to dodge the kick. This pattern is relatively straightforward to avoid.

One-Two-Cross

Similar to the One-Two-Kick, the boss punches twice, but ends with a cross attack instead of a kick. The cross attack occurs when the boss glows during the 1-2. Avoid standing directly behind the boss during this sequence.

Velganos Orb

This mechanic is only present in Hard Mode. The boss teleports to the middle, creating an AoE with a small safe zone adjacent to him. After the explosion, orbs spawn and target players. Lure orbs to the map’s edge, absorb them, and then perform the Velganos pattern. Completing the circle grants a shield against the final explosion.

Dash

The Incubus Morphe dashes towards the aggroed player, summoning clones that leave damaging “X” marks. After the dash, avoid being on the sides of the blue boss, since the clones are on the sides.

Kick dash

The boss telegraphs the kick dash by lifting his leg. After the dash, he’ll target the aggroed player with a cone attack. The safe zone is behind the Incubus Morphe.

Inside or outside

The boss pounds the ground, causing rain to fall. After the rain, the safe zone will either be close to the boss or far away from him. Stay near the border during the rain for easier transition to the safe zone when the rain stops. Using a sidereal skill after he pounds is a good time.

Lasers

The boss gathers energy, summons two clones, and fires lasers. Afterwards, he teleports to the aggroed player. After the line disappears, the boss will do a cone attack. After the boss teleports behind the boss for a longer DPS window.

Donuts

The boss levitates and draws donut-shaped areas on the ground, which are highly damaging if you’re not within the safe zone. Rain falls simultaneously, requiring players to dodge. After a brief period, the boss crashes down, dealing significant damage. Save your space bar to dodge the big circle.

Thorns

The Incubus Morphe raises thorns. Follow one thorn to find the safe zone after the boss shoots them out. The safe zone will be cross-shaped. Focus on survivability as support can heal the damage from stray thorns.
