Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Camos System
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 features a revamped Camos system, divided into two categories: Base Camos and Mastery Camos. Each weapon has 1 to 4 Base Camo Challenges, and completing them unlocks a unique Camo usable on all your weapons. Weapons customizable with Gunsmith 2.0 have 4 Camo Challenges. Mastery Camos, however, are specific to each weapon. You need to unlock a significant portion of Base Camos before starting on Mastery Camos.
How to Unlock Base Camos in COD Modern Warfare 2
Unlocking Base Camos is straightforward. Upon unlocking one for a particular weapon, it automatically becomes available for all guns. These cosmetics are earned by completing specific Base Camo challenges with a single weapon. You’ll have four objectives to accomplish in chronological order.
Every primary customizable Gunsmith weapon has four Camo Challenges:
- First Camo Challenge: Achieve a certain number of kills.
- Second Camo Challenge: Get a specified number of kills without reloading.
- Third Camo Challenge: Obtain a specific number of Double Kills.
- Fourth Camo Challenge: Achieve a certain number of Triple Kills.
To unlock the first Base Camo challenge, your chosen weapon must reach a certain level. As the weapon levels up, more objectives become available. Completing these unlocks access to the tasks required for the four Mastery Camos.
The Requirements of Four Types of Mastery Camos in COD Modern Warfare 2
Gold Camos:
The Gold camo is unlocked after completing all the base camo challenges.
Platinum Camos:
Platinum camo challenges unlock after obtaining the Gold Camo across a minimum number of weapons in each category.
Polyatomic Camos:
Similar to Platinum, you must unlock the Platinum Camo across at least 51 weapons before the Polyatomic Camo becomes available.
Orion Camos:
To obtain the Orion skin, players must unlock Polyatomic Camo across a minimum of 51 weapons.
The Weapon Mastery challenge requires earning a specific number of kills with a weapon while a Mastery camo is equipped. For example, for the M4:
- Gold Mastery Challenge: Get 100 Kills with Gold Camo equipped.
- Platinum Mastery Challenge: Get 200 Kills with Platinum Camo equipped.
- Polyatomic Mastery Challenge: Get 300 Kills with Polyatomic Camo equipped.
- Orion Mastery Challenge: Get 400 Kills with Orion Camo equipped.
Completing each mastery challenge rewards you with a corresponding cosmetic item for your weapon.
Unlocking all mastery skins in COD Modern Warfare 2 requires significant time investment in matches and completing various mastery challenges concurrently. Players can also purchase the Battle Pass to earn various items through match progression.
