Fortnite Creative is an alternate game mode in Fortnite where players can take a break from battle royale and engage in various activities on custom-made maps. It allows players to not only play different games with friends but also create their own games and experiences. Similar to Roblox, Fortnite Creative provides players with the tools to design and build their own maps, set rules and mechanics, and even program NPCs.

In Fortnite Creative, players have the freedom to decorate their maps and arrange pre-made structures as they please. Each player gets four islands to customize according to their preferences. Popular maps can be accessed through the hub map, or players can enter specific island codes to find and join specific maps.

Players use a handheld device called the Phone menu to manage everything they set up in Fortnite Creative. This device allows players to build and design their islands, rotate props, select and duplicate props, and test their creations. Once testing is completed, the map returns to its starting state, ready for any edits or the next round of testing. The published island codes can only be shared through the Support-a-Creator program, which has certain requirements and restrictions.

Is There a ‘Creative 2.0’?

There have been rumors and leaks about the release of Creative 2.0 in Fortnite. This new version is said to introduce advanced features such as programmable AI, terrain generation, and importable animations. With Creative 2.0, players would be able to add NPCs to their minigames, creating more complex and dynamic experiences on their islands.

The introduction of programmable AI NPCs opens up new possibilities for minigames, allowing NPCs to interfere or assist other players. For example, NPCs could simulate another player in murder mystery minigames. The terrain generation feature would enable the creation of new environments, enhancing labyrinth and navigation minigames. These features promise to provide players with a multitude of unique activities they can create.

While Creative 2.0 was initially planned for release by the end of 2022, it has been delayed and is now expected to launch in late January 2023.

What’s the Latest on Creative?

The latest update for Fortnite Creative is version 23.10, which brings several new features and fixes to the game mode. Among the additions are the Dirt Bike Spawner, the Ex-Caliber Rifle, and new consumables like the Slap Berry and Slap Juice.

The Dirt Bike Spawner allows players to spawn dirt bikes, perfect for games that require traversing long distances or races. Players can also customize the dirt bikes to their liking. The Ex-Caliber Rifle is a unique weapon that shoots a sword at enemies, which then explodes moments later. The creative community will surely test the potential uses of this weapon in various maps and games.

The Slap Berry and Slap Juice are consumables that provide a healing slap and energize players with short-term unlimited energy regeneration. These consumables are suitable for footraces or taking advantage of charged attacks with melee weapons.

In terms of creation tools, the update introduces the Event Browser, replacing the Channel Browser. This new feature allows players to teleport to any event they have set up on their custom map. The All Devices tab also returns, accompanied by a search bar to facilitate navigation.

It’s important to note that the current version of the Event Browser is an initial release, and more functionality will be added in future updates.

Core Updates in V23.10

Fortnite Creative update v23.10 brings core updates and fixes to enhance the gameplay experience. One of the notable updates is the tightening of the Player Collision Capsule, allowing players to fit in smaller spaces than before. Several devices have been updated to broadcast a message when players score points, including Collectibles, Color Change Tile, Objective, Pinball Bumper, Pinball Flipper, Score Manager, and Timer. New customizable options have been added for these devices, such as the ability to display score updates on the HUD by adjusting HUD Message Score Color and HUD Message Color.

Additionally, the update introduces a new visual style for the Explosive device. Players can now set the Device Mesh to ‘Bomb’, allowing them to time its detonation according to their preferences. The Explosive device also offers options for Proximity Delay and Time to Detonation from the Game Start settings.

Other updates include a new visual style for the Sequencer pulse, a ‘Create-only’ option for Billboards to be visible only in Create Mode, and the ability for Guards from the Guard Spawner to use Chiller and Impulse Grenades.
