Skull and Bones is a challenging game that requires players to be strategic and resourceful. If you’re a beginner, it can be overwhelming to know where to start. Here are some tips on how to play Skull and Bones well at first:
Maximize Infamy by Tackling Multiple Missions
The Infamy system is crucial in Skull and Bones. It allows you to unlock new equipment blueprints and ship types by defeating enemy ships and completing missions. To maximize your Infamy gains, focus on tackling multiple missions simultaneously.
- Complete the initial quest chain in Sainte-Anne to learn the basics of the game.
- Prioritize the main missions given by John Scurlock.
- Complete side quests that are located near the target locations of main missions to maximize Infamy points earned within a short period.
Stock Up on Metal Salvage for Ammunition
Metal Salvage is a common Flawed Material found near shipwrecks and battle sites. Even in the late game, Metal Salvage is useful for crafting Cannonball Crates, which provide 100 Cannonballs.
Make it a habit to collect Metal Salvage whenever possible to ensure a consistent supply of basic cannonballs for when you run out of specialized ammo.
Use Your Warehouse to Your Advantage
The Warehouse is often overlooked in the early stages of the game. It offers 170 slots, which can be a valuable storage space for valuables.
- Store valuables in your Warehouse whenever you return to Saint-Anne or visit an island with a Cache.
- This prevents losing valuable items if your ship sinks.
Scavenge as much as you can hold around the Exeter
It’s always better to have too much than not enough, especially in the early game. Once you start sailing on your makeshift raft or Dhow, take some time to explore the waters around the Exeter wreckage.
- Collect Broken Planks, Metal Salvage, and Rusty Nails, even though these are considered “flawed” materials.
- Store these materials in your Warehouse as soon as you reach St. Anne.
- Collect as much Explosive Firearms and Opulent Rum as you can during the “A Pirate’s Deal” quest, as these can be sold for quick cash in St. Anne.
Discover Outposts to Unlock Fast Travel Points
Sainte-Anne serves as a safe haven, but exploring the world and discovering Outposts is essential. As you approach an Outpost, slow down and hold the ‘S’ key to disembark and tag the location as a fast travel point.
Remember that using fast travel costs silver, so weigh the convenience against the cost before making a decision.
Track Blueprints with Ease
Upgrading your ship is crucial for progression, and obtaining new weapons and armor requires blueprints from merchants across the map. You can easily track these blueprints by following these steps:
- Select the desired item from the blacksmith.
- Select “Track” to see the location of the blueprint on the map.
- You can apply the same method to track materials.
By following these tips, you can get a head start in Skull and Bones and enjoy the game’s exciting world of piracy. Good luck, and may the winds be always in your favor!
