Palworld Update: Melee, PvP, Raids & Building

Palworld’s eagerly anticipated v0.7 update, dubbed “Home Sweet Home,” has arrived, bringing a wealth of improvements and exciting new content to the monster-taming survival game. This significant patch lays crucial groundwork for the game’s eventual 1.0 release, as hinted by communications director John “Bucky” Buckley. Players can look forward to enhanced base building, more dynamic combat, and even the introduction of experimental PvP. The update also features a unique collaboration with the fast-paced shooter game ULTRAKILL, alongside numerous quality-of-life adjustments, bug fixes, and rebalancing efforts designed to refine the Palpagos Islands experience.

Palworld v0.7 patch notes:

ULTRAKILL Collab!

The “Home Sweet Home” update introduces an unexpected yet thrilling collaboration with the acclaimed indie shooter, ULTRAKILL. Players can now don the iconic armor sets of V1 and V2, transforming their appearance on the Palpagos Islands into that of a formidable, blood-fueled machine. Beyond cosmetic changes, this partnership brings a pair of unique weapons directly from ULTRAKILL into Palworld, offering distinct combat advantages. A standout mechanic is the

Coin Toss feature:

  • When wielding the Marksman Revolver, players can throw coins into the air.
  • Bullets fired will then perform a devastating “Ricoshot,” ricocheting off the thrown coin to hit nearby targets with increased force.

This adds a fresh layer of skill-based combat, allowing players to unleash spectacular and powerful attacks reminiscent of ULTRAKILL’s frenetic action.

Base Building Improvements

For aspiring architects and master builders, this update delivers substantial enhancements to the base construction system. Pocketpair has acknowledged the community’s impressive creations and responded with much-requested features to foster even greater creativity. A total of 48 new building parts have been added, significantly expanding design possibilities, including the highly anticipated triangular pieces. Customization gets a boost with the ability to change the color of various building components and foundations, allowing for truly personalized aesthetics. Furthermore, the building user interface has been completely redesigned, now presented as a more organized, list-based system, which streamlines the construction process and makes finding specific parts much easier. These changes promise a more intuitive and flexible building experience.

Raid Boss Improvements

Raid battles are getting a strategic overhaul, offering players more control and less risk to their precious bases. A formidable new raid boss has been introduced, challenging even the most seasoned Pal Tamers. Crucially, players now have a choice when confronting these powerful foes at the Summoning Altar. They can either engage the raid boss directly at their base, as before, or opt to face it in a specially designed Raid Battlefield. These dedicated arenas eliminate the worry of base destruction, allowing players to fight with their full might. Within these special areas, players can construct temporary structures and bring in specific items, opening up new tactical approaches to these intense encounters without risking damage to their painstakingly crafted homes.

Melee Combat Improvements

Close-quarters combat has received significant attention in this patch, making melee a more engaging and viable option for players. The gameplay for various melee weapons, including swords, katanas, and beam swords, has been substantially improved. Pressing the left-click (or right trigger on a controller) will now initiate a new consecutive combo attack, adding fluidity and power to strikes. Additionally, both the katana and beam sword have been given unique special attacks. Holding either the left or right-click (or their respective triggers) will activate these powerful abilities, allowing players to unleash devastating moves. These changes aim to elevate the thrill and effectiveness of melee combat, providing a refreshing alternative to ranged encounters.

New Features

The v0.7 update introduces two groundbreaking features that promise to evolve the Palworld experience significantly. Foremost among these is the highly anticipated PvP functionality, now available in an experimental state. Recognizing the community’s desire for player-versus-player interactions, Pocketpair has provided the necessary tools for players to establish their own rules and engage in competitive Pal Tamer battles. It’s emphasized that this is an early implementation and balancing adjustments may occur. Secondly, for PC players on Steam, Steam Workshop support has been added. This empowers the community by allowing players to easily download and utilize mods, opening a new world of custom content and further extending Palworld’s replayability and creative potential. These additions mark an exciting expansion of the game’s core offerings.

Mechanic Adjustments

Several quality-of-life improvements have been implemented to make interacting with the game world more intuitive. When placing new buildings, a clear arrow indicating the structure’s orientation will now be displayed, ensuring precise placement. For buildings that serve as work locations for Pals, a Cattiva icon will appear, visually marking where your Pals will perform tasks. The Palbox has also been adjusted to allow for better alignment with existing foundations and roofs, enhancing base aesthetics and functionality. For keyboard and mouse users, building controls have been refined for a more intuitive experience, with continuous building now set as the default, streamlining the construction process. These adjustments aim to make base management smoother and more efficient.

Balance Adjustments

The latest patch includes a comprehensive set of balance changes to refine gameplay mechanics. New implants have been added to the surgery table, offering fresh customization options such as: Mine Foreman, Logging Foreman, Fine Furs, Sleek Stroke, and Work Slave. Players will now receive a “Little Kinship Peach” when freeing Pals from enemy camps. A “MERCY HIT” indicator clarifies when no damage is dealt to enemies using mercy attacks. Pals will no longer lose SAN (Sanity) when taking damage, improving their overall well-being. The severity of various negative status effects has been reduced; for example, “Hungry” now reduces Attack, Defense, and Work Speed by -10% instead of -20%. Attributes for Broncherry’s “Body Smash” changed to grass and Rushoar’s “Heavy Charge” to earth. An “Item Decay Speed Multiplier” option has been added to settings, and dedicated server police NPCs now only target the player and their guild for crimes. The work aptitude icon has also received a visual update.

Bug Fixes

A host of bug fixes has been implemented to enhance game stability and improve the overall player experience. Among the notable corrections is a fix for Flopie, ensuring she now correctly collects dropped items in the field while her partner skill “Helper Bunny” is active. The pathfinding AI for Pals within bases has been significantly improved, making it easier for them to reach their designated locations and perform tasks efficiently. An issue where summoned Pals would aggressively attack visitors, even when not provoked, has been resolved. Furthermore, a bug causing incorrect attacking states when players assaulted visitors in their base has been rectified. These, along with many other minor bug fixes, contribute to a smoother and more reliable Palworld adventure.

The Palworld “Home Sweet Home” update represents a significant step in the game’s ongoing development, introducing exciting collaborations, vital quality-of-life improvements, and foundational new features. While some elements, like PvP, are still experimental, they showcase Pocketpair’s commitment to evolving the game based on community feedback. These changes, from refined building mechanics to more strategic raid encounters and a more balanced Pal experience, are all crucial steps in preparing Palworld for its highly anticipated 1.0 release. Players can dive back into the Palpagos Islands to discover these enhancements and enjoy a more polished and engaging adventure.
