Once Human Annual Version 2.0: Dreamveil Special Program – A Deep Dive
Once Human’s Annual Version 2.0, dubbed “Dreamveil,” has arrived, bringing a wealth of new content and improvements. The special program unveiling detailed the new features, optimizations, and events awaiting players. Let’s explore the key announcements.
Dreamland Wonder and Endless Dream
Dreamland Wonder and Endless Dream represent significant additions to the game’s world and gameplay.
- Dreamland Wonder: Envisioned as an oasis from the harsh realities of Nalcott, it’s a hub for minigames and prize acquisition. It serves as a lighthearted escape amidst the prevailing chaos.
- Endless Dream: This PvE scenario, previously in Early Access, has been fully launched. It introduces “nightmare zones” scattered across the open world, each presenting unique environmental challenges and Strayness, a new survival mechanic.
- Players can leverage building mechanics within Endless Dream to fortify themselves against the nightmares. Building doesn’t require a Territory Terminal, allowing for strategic construction advantages in combat.
- The scenario features dynamic progression influenced by collective player actions. Failure to promptly clear nightmare zones results in increased monster presence, with the final outcome dictated by the level of nightmare invasion at the scenario’s conclusion.
The Way of Winter Optimizations
The Way of Winter scenario has undergone substantial improvements based on player input, refining its challenges and reward structure.
- Extreme weather conditions, such as blizzards and volcanic storms, now expand across the wilderness over time, increasing in intensity as server time progresses.
- Each phase introduces region-specific weather effects, presenting new survival hurdles. Failure to address these effects quickly leads to their propagation to adjacent regions.
- To mitigate extreme weather, players can utilize the Chaosium Heart at Chaosium Hubs. Alternatively, they can summon and defeat the Chaosweaver, a boss that has been reworked.
- Defeating the Chaosweaver during the extreme weather cycle allows players to contain it within a Chaosium Hub, completely ending the weather event in that area and fulfilling the challenge.
New Class System
The Annual Version update introduces a class system, offering players specialized roles and playstyles. Players can unlock and select one of the three classes.
- Beastmaster: This class focuses on animal companionship. Using a whistle, Beastmasters can summon a loyal beast companion – a boar, bear, or wolf – to aid them in their adventures.
- Chef: With a culinary focus, Chefs can create unique dishes using gathered ingredients and establish temporary dining tables in the wild, providing buffs and support to their team.
- Gardener: Gardeners can create living crops by fusing plant materials with mechanical components obtained from mutated creatures. These creations serve as territory facilities or can be deployed in combat.
- Each class comes with its core ability, talents, and class-specific item to improve the early stages of character development.
Special In-Game Events and Rewards
The update brings a host of special in-game events, providing opportunities for players to earn exclusive rewards and participate in unique activities.
- Giant Chefosaurus Rex: Players collaborate to complete tasks and contain the Giant Chefosaurus Rex, a limited-time deviation, earning rewards upon its successful containment.
- Dreamland Wonder Minigames: Engaging in minigames within Dreamland Wonder allows players to earn exclusive cosmetics and other prizes by exchanging event currency.
- Fireworks Show: Regular in-game fireworks shows offer a communal experience. If enough players attend and share their wishes, the treasure chest in the center of the square unlocks, granting rewards to all participants.
- There are many ways to earn rewards; participating in different events, completing the tasks, unlock the deviation to get your reward.
