Master Sword Secrets in Tears of the Kingdom

1. Cleansing the Great Deku Tree

The traditional route to obtaining the Master Sword in Tears of the Kingdom mirrors Breath of the Wild with a twist. You’ll need to progress through a significant portion of the main quests until you unlock the “Trail of the Master Sword” quest. This will lead you to the Great Deku Tree in the Lost Woods.

  • Navigating through the Depths to reach the Lost Woods.
  • Clearing Gloom within the forest to access the Great Deku Tree.
  • The Deku Tree will then mark the Master Sword’s location on your map.

2. Find All of the Dragon Tears (Geoglyphs)

This path involves a quest called “Impa and the Geoglyphs,” found near the New Serenne Stable in Hyrule Ridge. You’ll need to follow Impa’s instructions and discover the various Geoglyphs and Dragon Tears scattered throughout the world.

These Geoglyphs represent memories of the past, and unlocking all of them will trigger a quest update that reveals the Master Sword’s location.

3. Find the Light Dragon

The fastest way to obtain the Master Sword involves finding the Light Dragon. Although you can find the dragon early in the game, you’ll need to reach a significant height.

You can achieve this by using a high-flying Zonai Device or by jumping off one of the highest islands, such as the Zonaite Forge Island. Once you’ve located the dragon, you’ll need to jump onto its back.

Unlike Breath of the Wild, the Light Dragon circles the entirety of Hyrule, making it a challenging target. However, once you succeed, the Master Sword will be found within its head.
