Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4, titled “Shock ‘N Awesome,” brings a host of new features and challenges to the game. Here are the key aspects of this exciting season.
Season Start and Duration
The season kicked off on August 7, 2025, and is set to end on November 1, 2025, Eastern Time. This gives players a few months to dive into the new content and compete in various in – game events.
Island Transformation: Bugs Take Over
The Island has been overrun by bugs, with goopy nests and egg sacs everywhere. The O.X.R. (the Island’s anti – bug military defense force) is players’ ally in this fight. There are new Points of Interest (POIs) to explore:
- The Hive: A high – insect – activity area. Entering here requires a good stock of ammunition due to the certainty of running into swarms.
- O.X.R. HQ: Troops are stationed in the barracks. The main building has battle ops hub with commanders, and there’s an O.X.R. Armory where players can buy weapons and items using Bars.
- Ranger’s Ruin: Once a busy weapons lab for the O.X.R., now lost to the infestation. It’s filled with quality loot for those brave enough to face the bugs.
Bug Varieties
Players will encounter three types of bugs:
- Swarmer: The most common and smallest bug. They can bog players down if not taken out quickly.
- Bomber: Larger bugs found near nests. They burrow and pop up behind players, lobbing goop from afar.
- Queen: Massive slugs, usually burrowed deep. They surface after their nests are cleared of bugs, summon more bugs, and try to body – slam players. Defeating a Queen at specific POIs rewards players with unique Mythic weapons and Medallions.
O.X.R. Rank System
All players start each match with a C rank, and can progress through B, A, S, and S+. O.X.R. rank is shared among party members. As players rank up by eliminating enemies, surviving storms, and killing bugs, they receive rewards:
- Each rank – up sends an O.X.R. Drop Pod filled with loot, including a Super Soldier Boon.
- At rank A, players gain access to O.X.R. Bunkers containing Exotic weapons.
- Reaching S+ guarantees a drop pod with a Mythic weapon.
New Weapons and Tools
- Bug Blaster: Fires explosive plasma projectiles or can be charged for a more powerful shot.
- Roly Poly: A unique transportation method where players can roll and bounce around the map, or charge it for a speed burst.
- O.X.R. Issue Equipment: Such as the Leadspitter 3000 minigun, Sweeper Shotgun, O.X.R. Rifle, Wrecker Revolver, and the laser – guided Swarmstrike rocket launcher. Later in the season, the iconic Power Rangers sidearm, the Blade Blaster, will be available.
- Exotics: Exclusive to O.X.R. bunkers after hitting rank A, including the Eradicator O.X.R. Rifle, Double Trouble (two shotguns), Shock n’ Slow Shockwave Launcher, Marksman Wrecker Revolver, and Exotic Slap Berry Fizz.
Boons
New Boons can be found in O.X.R. Chests, Hive Sacs, Drop Pods, or earned from mid – match objectives:
- Agile Aiming Boon: Reduces recoil and spread while aiming, and maintains movement speed.
- Extended Magazine Boon: Increases clip size for all weapons.
- Storm Forecast Boon: Reveals the next Storm circle.
- Super Soldier Ranked Boons: Available from O.X.R. Drop Pods, with different abilities based on rank, like reduced Energy consumption, increased reload speed, reduced recoil, and increased sprint speed.
Battle Pass
The Shock ‘N Awesome Battle Pass offers both free and premium rewards. Premium rewards can be claimed by purchasing the pass for 1,000 V – Bucks or through Fortnite Crew. The Battle Pass includes outfits like the UNSC Spartan (instantly unlocked for pass buyers or free at Level 100 for non – pass holders starting August 26), Yoo – mi, Agent Patch, Battle Gamer Mae, Lt. Ripp Slade, Onyx Winter, and the Green Ranger. Battle Pass holders can also unlock the Dino Megazord Outfit by completing Quests starting September 16.
Twitch Drops and Supercharged XP
During the launch weekend (August 7 – 11), watching Fortnite on Twitch for specific durations rewards players with items like the Metal Menace Wrap, Tome of Skulls Back Bling, and Skeletal Cyberscythe Pickaxe. Logging into Fortnite between August 15 – 18 gives the chance to earn up to five Levels with Supercharged XP.
Blitz Royale Updates
New content is coming to Blitz Royale:
- On August 12, the new Oathbound Citadel POI arrives with Kinetic Ore.
- On August 19, Medallions, Boons, and select Mythics & Exotics from Shock ‘N Awesome are added.
Tournament Information
Champions Road is back with numerous tournaments leading up to the 2025 FNCS Global Championship on September 6 and 7. The Shock n’ Slow Shockwave Launcher and Swarmstrike will be disabled in tournaments, and Epic Games will monitor and make changes as needed.
