Destiny 2 Pantheon Raid Guide

Destiny 2: Pantheon Raid Mechanics Explained

Destiny 2 introduced the limited-time Pantheon mode, a raid boss gauntlet requiring players to defeat all bosses within a time limit to earn the prestigious “Godslayer” title. This guide will break down the mechanics for each encounter, explaining roles and strategies to maximize your chances of success.

Golgoroth Mechanics

Golgoroth requires two distinct roles: Gaze holders and DPS.

  • Gaze Holders (2 players):
    • Use Izanagi’s Burden with Honed Edge x4 to maximize damage when shooting Golgoroth’s back.
    • Hold the Gaze by shooting the glowing fleshy back of Golgoroth.
    • The Gaze holder with the timer must call out the remaining time for the other player to take over.
    • Position behind the DPS team to expose Golgoroth’s weak point (stomach).
  • DPS Team:
    • Shoot the bubble on the ceiling to land in the DPS zone.
    • Players with the “Unstable Light” debuff should stand close to Golgoroth and let the debuff expire for heavy damage.
    • Avoid standing near other players with the debuff to prevent a fatal explosion.

Optimal loadouts include two Well of Radiance Warlocks for DPS support.

The Caretaker Mechanics

The Caretaker encounter requires three teams: Symbol team, Stunning team, and Add clear team.

  • Symbol Team (2 players):
    • Gather three symbols from the dark room behind the obelisk.
    • Remember the symbols and communicate them to your partner.
    • Shoot the corresponding symbols on the obelisk as quickly as possible.
    • Beware of the Pervading Darkness debuff which kills after 10 stacks.
  • Stunning Team (2 players):
    • Stand near the boss and shoot his face when it glows yellow after a ground slam.
    • Shoot the glowing spot in the coffin on his back to stun him.
    • Ensure the Caretaker doesn’t reach any plates before the damage phase.
  • Add Clear Team:
    • Prioritize Taken Vandals, Ogres, and orange-bar Scorn to protect the other teams.

For damage, stand on an orange glowing plate to bypass immunity. A common strategy is to use Special and Heavy on the first plate, Primary on the second, and Heavy and Supers on the third, potentially skipping the third floor.

Zo’aurc, Explicator of Worlds Encounter

This encounter requires three teams: Planet teams (2 pairs) and Add clear team.

  • Planet Teams (4 players):
    • Stand on designated triangular platforms (bottom/top left & right).
    • Kill Colossi to gain the “Planetary Alignment” buff for planet transfer.
    • Communicate with your partner to correctly dunk their planet onto the opposite triangle.
  • Add Clear Team (2 players):
    • Prioritize Cabal Centurions as they spawn Colossi needed for the main mechanic.

Once all planets are correctly placed, the next phase begins. Players must dunk the correct planet onto each of the three central plates based on their color (two of one color, one of the opposite). The damage phase starts after all plates are correctly filled. Remember to alternate between the plates, e.g., Dark, Light, Dark if two are dark.

Atraks-1 Mechanics

This encounter has two teams: Ground team and Space team. Optimal loadouts include Parasite heavy grenade launcher for maximum DPS.

  • Ground Team (3 players):
    • One player should grab the Operator buff.
    • Kill their assigned Sentinels and then use the Operator to call an elevator to the Space area.
  • Space Team (3 players):
    • One player grabs the Scanner buff.
    • Kill their assigned Sentinels, then kill the glowing Atraks copy.
    • Pick up the energy ball dropped by Atraks copies and avoid letting the timer run out.
    • The Operator can reset the timer by shooting the Atraks clone hanging on their back.

Coordinate your DPS to one-phase Atraks-1 using burst damage subclasses like Thundercrash, Burning Maul, Nova Bomb, and Golden Gun.
