DBD 9.1.1: Fixes after Killer/Perk Controversy

Dead by Daylight Update 9.1.1 Patch Notes

Dead by Daylight’s latest update, 9.1.1, arrives swiftly following the release of 9.1.0. The update aims to address the various bugs and issues that arose from the previous patch, which contained new characters, map modifications, and balance adjustments. While the initial update was welcomed, it was overshadowed by several game-breaking issues. The community voiced their concerns, prompting Behaviour Interactive to deploy this bug fix patch in response to the feedback. This update focuses on stabilizing the game experience and re-enabling certain elements that were temporarily disabled due to unforeseen issues.

Priority Bug Fixes

The 9.1.1 update prioritizes resolving major issues impacting gameplay. These key fixes include addressing the issue where Killers were often unable to initiate chases and the associated chase music failing to play.

  • Corrected Streetwise problems which negatively affected item charges while using chests.
  • Resolved issues with vault speeds when using Last Stand.
  • Addressed the issue where “The Walking Dead” music would be affected even with copyright music setting toggled.
  • Fixed player slowdowns when ascending certain staircases.
  • Corrected incorrect name and voicelines for the Baermar Uraz’s Masquerade Musician outfit.
  • Restored the missing aiming animation for Deathslinger from the Survivor’s perspective.
  • Addressed the blocking issue on “Be chased for 20 seconds” quest in “Into the Fog”.
  • Stopped black screens when spectating for the second time after a results screen.

Content

This update primarily focuses on resolving existing issues rather than introducing new content. However, two important perks that were temporarily disabled due to bugs have been re-enabled. These are:

  • Streetwise: This perk allows survivors to consume item charges more slowly while repairing, healing, or sabotaging.
  • Last Stand: Provides a speed boost upon being unhooked, but was causing unintended issues with vaulting speeds.

With necessary tweaks implemented, players can now utilize these perks without encountering the previous glitches, restoring their functionality within the game.

SURVIVOR ITEM: FOG VIAL

The Fog Vial, a new Survivor item introduced in the previous update, has received balance adjustments in 9.1.1. Due to player feedback regarding its effectiveness, the developers have made the following changes:

  • Base Opacity Reduction: The overall opacity of the fog cloud created by the Fog Vial has been decreased to 33% from 40%. This change should make it slightly easier for Killers to see through the fog.
  • Fog Cloud Volume Adjustment: The volume of the ambient fog cloud sound has been reduced by 3 decibels. This is meant to address concerns about the distracting nature of the sound.

FOG VIAL ADD-ONS

Alongside the base changes to the Fog Vial, the Potent Extract (Visceral) add-on has also been adjusted to rebalance its effect.

  • Potent Extract (Visceral):
    • Visibility Reduction: The visibility reduction effect of this add-on has been decreased to 5%, down from 10%.
    • Maximum Size Reduction: Remains unchanged.
    • Maximum Lifetime Reduction: Remains unchanged.

These changes are aimed at preventing the Fog Vial from being overly oppressive, while still maintaining its utility as a defensive item for Survivors.
