Asia Will Now Have A Better Gaming Experience for Albion Online
Albion Online, a popular MMORPG released in 2017, has announced the launch of a dedicated server for the Asia Pacific region: Albion East. This move is designed to provide players in Asia with a significantly better gaming experience by reducing high ping issues caused by playing on servers located on the East Coast of the USA.
Sandbox Interactive, the game’s developer, has opted for a server in Singapore, which benefits not only Asian players but also those in the Oceania region. To ensure a smooth launch, Albion Online held a closed beta for Albion East, requiring players to purchase Founder’s Packs for access. These packs offer various benefits and unique rewards. The closed beta ran from February 20 to March 12 and featured a short Guild season where players could compete for in-game rewards, some of which will persist after the server resets.
Mixed Feelings
The introduction of a dedicated server for Asia is generally welcomed as it allows more players to experience Albion Online with better ping, but it also introduces some concerns regarding the global server.
The Possibility of Having More Servers
The success of Albion East could potentially lead to the implementation of dedicated servers for other regions, particularly Europe, which often faces high ping issues. Sandbox Interactive’s decision to introduce an Asia server could be a stepping stone towards a more localized approach for the game, catering to players worldwide. The launch of Albion East is scheduled for March 20, and it will include region-specific events optimized for the time zones of East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Australia.
Albion East’s success hinges on its ability to attract and retain a substantial player base, which will ultimately determine the future of dedicated servers for other regions in Albion Online.
