Hogwarts Legacy Ghost of Our Love Quest Guide

Meeting Richard Jackdaw

Before embarking on the “Ghost of Our Love” quest, you need to complete your initial Trials of Merlin quest. After finishing your first Merlin Trial with Nora Treadwell and meeting Natty in Lower Hogsfield, an owl post will deliver a crucial letter. This letter triggers a House-specific quest. Regardless of your chosen Hogwarts house, these branching quests will eventually lead you to Richard Jackdaw. You’ll encounter him in his tomb deep within the Forbidden Forest. This encounter marks a significant step, as it unlocks the Map Chamber and introduces you to Percival Rackham, along with a vital treasure map – the “Map with Floating Candles.” Acquiring this map automatically initiates the “Ghost of Our Love” quest.

  • Prisoners of Love (Hufflepuff)
  • The Hunt for the Missing Pages (Gryffindor)
  • Scrope’s Last Hope (Slytherin)
  • Ollivander’s Heirloom (Ravenclaw)

Each house-specific quest has its own narrative but ultimately converge on Richard Jackdaw’s tomb, leading to the treasure map.

The Treasure Map’s Location

The crucial “Map with Floating Candles” isn’t hidden in one location, but varies depending on your chosen Hogwarts House. Locate these key items within the game world to progress:

House Location
Hufflepuff Upper Hogsfield. Seek a chest inside a house just past Claire Beaumont’s vendor to your right.
Gryffindor The Hunt for the Missing Pages quest leads you to Nearly Headless Nick near Hogsmeade cemetery. Follow the quest interaction with Patrick Delaney-Podmore; find the map on a specific grave to the right of the crypt entrance.
Slytherin Progress through Scrope’s Last Hope, and reach Apollonia’s Grotto, the cave beneath Hogwarts with a red squid on the wall. Place the toast given by Scrope on a pedestal to uncover a secret area. The map is nestled within a chest there.
Ravenclaw Complete Ollivander’s Heirloom quest, and head to the Owlery southwest of Hogwarts. Locate the map resting on the ground at the top of the southern section of the Owlery’s highest level.

Successfully obtaining the treasure map from its designated location initiates the “Ghost of Our Love” questline.

Ghost of Our Love Walkthrough

To begin, quickly travel to the Forbidden Forest Floo Flame. This portal is unlocked upon reaching the Forbidden Forest entrance itself. If you’re currently in the daytime, change the game’s time setting to night to enhance the quest’s ambience. You will find a small bridge and a love letter hinting at two students seeking a secret rendezvous in the Forbidden Forest. Using Lumos, illuminate the area where you found the letter to reveal enchanted floating candles.

Carefully follow the glowing candles’ path deep into the forest. Although the distance isn’t great, watch out for potential threats like Ashwinders or Dugbogs. Continue following the candlelight, and you will find a picnic table set for two. Further examination reveals additional floating candles and a treasure chest. This chest contains 400 Galleons and a random piece of equipment as reward. Completing this quest awards 180 experience points.

While the quest’s duration is relatively short, it can be tricky to find the exact location of the bridge and the initial candles. This comprehensive guide should alleviate any confusion, providing a clear path to unlocking this rewarding side quest.
