Halo Infinite Season 5: How Forge’s New AI Toolkit Works
Halo Infinite Season 5 has brought a significant update to Forge, adding a new AI Toolkit that empowers players to create even more immersive and dynamic custom game experiences. With the introduction of campaign AI, players can now integrate these iconic characters into their Forge creations, leading to entirely new gameplay possibilities.
Spawning Campaign AI
The AI Toolkit lets players spawn specific AI characters from the Halo Infinite campaign into their custom game creations. Players have access to 43 distinct AI types, including Grunts, Jackals, Elites, Brutes, and more. With a limit of 32 AI and 24 players in a single game mode, players can craft intricate encounters that blend the campaign’s familiar characters with their own unique designs.
- Grunt (5 variants)
- Jackals (4 variants)
- Skimmers (3 variants)
- Elites (5 variants)
- Brutes (16 variants)
- Hunters (2 variants)
- Marines (6 variants)
- Bosses (2 variants)
To spawn AI, players place AI Spawners in their maps. They can also utilize the AI Phantom Spawner to drop vehicles like Choppers, Ghosts, and Wraiths into the game, optionally with a driver or pilot. Each AI can be customized with specific weapons and difficulty settings, ranging from Easy to Legendary. The Player Count Difficulty Multiplier feature allows players to scale difficulty based on the number of players in the lobby. Importantly, these settings can be dynamically adjusted mid-match using node graph scripts or set as global Custom Game options.
Control Your AI
The AI Toolkit introduces a new node graph scripting system, allowing players to define intricate AI behaviors and movement patterns. This system enables players to create complex scenarios, such as AI units patrolling specific paths or engaging in scripted combat sequences. Players can establish trigger points that activate AI spawning events, such as spawning five Jackals with shotguns when a player enters a particular room. These trigger points can be linked to the AI Spawner, automating the desired actions within the game.
Play PvP or PvE
One of the most exciting features of the AI Toolkit is the ability to set AI allegiance to any of the eight available teams. This means AI can now fight alongside or against players, creating a whole new dimension of gameplay. Players can now build PvPvE modes where players and AI teams clash in a dynamic and unpredictable battle. The AI Toolkit empowers players to craft truly unique and immersive experiences that blend competitive and cooperative gameplay.
New Canvases and Objects
Beyond the AI Toolkit, Season 5 introduces two new canvases: Barrage and Permafrost. Barrage features a post-bombardment theme with craters, abandoned structures, and natural elements. Permafrost offers a snowy landscape with frozen bodies of water, providing a distinct visual aesthetic for Forge creations. Alongside these new canvases, over 100 new Banished objects have been added, allowing players to build even more detailed and visually appealing maps.
Season 5 also includes a variety of quality-of-life improvements, such as enhanced lighting, reflections, shadows, and control enhancements. Players can now earn Battle Pass XP in Custom Games, encouraging players to explore Forge game modes and be rewarded for their creativity.
With the new AI Toolkit, Halo Infinite Season 5 has opened a world of new possibilities for Forge. From crafting intricate AI behaviors to building PvPvE experiences, the AI Toolkit empowers players to create truly unique and engaging custom games. As the Forge community continues to innovate, we can expect to see an explosion of creative and immersive experiences that push the boundaries of Halo Infinite’s gameplay.
