How to Unlock The Gilded Araya Trial
The Gilded Araya trial is a challenging encounter added in FFXIV’s Patch 6.55, featuring the powerful Asura as the main opponent. To gain access to this trial, a series of prerequisites must be met, primarily focused on the Hildibrand Manderville questline. This questline, known for its comedic and often bizarre storylines, spans across multiple expansions, requiring players to have completed the entire saga.
Specifically, you must have finished the main Endwalker campaign before even considering this content. Then, every Hildibrand quest from A Realm Reborn all the way through Endwalker has to be completed. This starts with the quest “Rise and Fall of Gentlemen,” initiated by speaking to Wymond in Ul’dah – Steps of Nald (X:9.8, Y:8.7) with a level 50 job or higher. Proceed through each quest step, and eventually, you’ll reach the final quest, “Gentlemen at Heart”, given by Delion in Radz-at-Han (X:11.4, Y:11.5) after doing “Of Duplicity and Duplication.” After some cutscenes, you can queue for The Gilded Araya trial in the Duty Finder.
How to Beat Asura in The Gilded Araya Trial
Asura presents numerous challenges with a variety of attacks that require careful observation and precise execution. Success hinges on understanding her attack patterns, dodging area-of-effect (AoE) attacks, and effective teamwork.
- Lower Realm: Raid-wide damage. Be cautious of falling off the arena’s edge, as it is a lethal hazard.
- Asuri Chakra: Avoid the ring-shaped AoEs by positioning yourself in the safe spaces between them.
- Cutting Jewel: A tankbuster attack. Tanks should use defensive cooldowns to mitigate the incoming damage.
Ephemerality and Iconography
Two attacks from Asura require attention to patterns and positioning.
- Ephemerality: Afterimages appear and explode into circular AoEs. Stand near the midpoint of the central images and stay at max melee range.
- Iconography: Asura summons a massive clone, mirroring her attacks. Awareness of her moves and those of the clone are important.
Iconography Attacks
Asura’s Iconography attacks require quick reactions and spatial awareness. Here’s how to avoid them:
- Pedestal Purge: This boss-centered AoE is mirrored by the clone with Iconic Execution. Move away.
- Wheel of Deincarnation: A donut-shaped AoE. Stay close to the clone.
- Bladewise: A line AoE aimed at a random player. The clone’s Iconic Execution creates a large line AoE down the arena’s center. Move to the sides.
Six-Bladed Khadga and Face of Wrath
These attacks have specific patterns that can be learned and easily dodged.
- Six-bladed Khadga: Six half-circle AoEs appear. The order seems to be forward, left, right, and repeat. Standing behind Asura avoids most of these.
- The Face of Wrath: The arena divides into blue and red sections. Avoid the color matching the face shown on the screen, or you will be stunned.
Myriad Aspects and Bladescatter
These attacks require you to move into recently cleared areas.
- Myriad Aspects: Two sets of cone AoEs. Stand in the initial safe zone and then move into that recently cleared spot to avoid the second wave.
- Bladescatter: Line AoEs followed by a circle that rotates. Dodge into the first AoE from the safe side.
Iconic Execution 2 and Ordered Chaos
These are some of the final attacks of the fight.
- Iconic Execution 2: The clone teleports to one side, then unleashes a large AoE. Stand near the center and quickly move as needed once the clone teleports.
- Ordered Chaos: Half the party gets an AoE marker and must spread out. Then, the party receives LB3 to finish off Asura.
