A Refresher on the Rules
Windtrace is a limited-time event in Genshin Impact that brings back the classic game of hide-and-seek. One player is randomly selected to be the Hunter, while the others become Rebels. The Hunter’s goal is to capture all Rebels before time runs out. Conversely, Rebels must evade the Hunter until the timer expires to secure their victory.
The event takes place in specially designed arenas across Teyvat. Strategically using disguises and windward arts is key to success. The core gameplay loop is simple but offers surprising depth and replayability, making it a fan-favorite event.
Windward Arts
Windward Arts are special abilities granted to both Hunters and Rebels during the Windtrace event. These abilities replace your normal combat skills and are crucial for gaining an edge over your opponents. Knowing how and when to use them can drastically impact the outcome of a match.
Each role has its unique set of Windward Arts, tailored to their objectives. Hunters use abilities to locate and capture Rebels, while Rebels utilize arts to evade and deceive the Hunter. Mastering these arts is essential for maximizing your chances of winning.
Hunter Windward Arts
As the Hunter, your primary objective is to find and capture all the Rebels. You have access to a range of Windward Arts designed to aid in your search.
- Mysterious Hunch: Briefly reveals the approximate location of Rebels. Use this frequently to narrow down your search area.
- Capture: Allows you to capture a Rebel who is nearby. This is your main method of securing a victory.
- Sensor Aura: Detects moving Rebels within its radius, marking them for a short duration. Good for areas with limited visibility.
- Insight (Favor): Reveals the location of all Rebels for a short period, and prevents them from disguising.
- Hunter’s Intuition (Favor): Reveals the location of one Rebel on the minimap. Prevents disguises for a longer duration.
Rebel Windward Arts
As a Rebel, your goal is to avoid capture by the Hunter. Use your Windward Arts creatively to outsmart and evade them.
- Disguise: Transforms you into a random object in the environment. Blend in strategically to avoid detection.
- Transparency: Briefly turns you invisible, allowing you to quickly reposition or escape detection.
- Decoy Beacon: Place a beacon that will obscure the Hunter’s vision upon capture.
- Starstep (Favor): Grants a temporary boost to movement speed, allowing you to create distance from the Hunter.
Maps and Locations
Windtrace takes place across various maps throughout Teyvat. Each map offers unique challenges and opportunities for both Hunters and Rebels. Familiarizing yourself with the layout of each map is key to success. The available maps often rotate with each Windtrace event rerun.
Knowing the common hiding spots and strategic locations on each map can give you a significant advantage. Pay attention to the environment and use it to your advantage, whether you are a Hunter or a Rebel. Understanding the terrain is crucial.
Achievements
The Windtrace event features a range of achievements that reward players with Windtrace Coins. These coins can be exchanged for various rewards, such as Mora, Character EXP Materials, and more. Completing achievements provides an extra incentive to participate in the event.
Achievements can be earned for performing specific actions during Windtrace matches, such as capturing all Rebels as the Hunter, surviving the entire match as a Rebel, or utilizing Windward Arts effectively. Some achievements require specific strategies. Pay attention to the achievement requirements.
