TennoCon 2025: A Deep Dive into Warframe and Soulframe’s Future
Digital Extremes has wrapped up its annual TennoCon, and 2025’s edition was packed with exciting reveals for both Warframe and its upcoming fantasy counterpart, Soulframe. From brand new gameplay demos to significant story expansions, here’s a rundown of everything announced.
Soulframe
Despite still being in active development, Soulframe received significant attention at TennoCon 2025. Digital Extremes showcased a brand-new gameplay segment, highlighting the progress made over the past year. The focus was on demonstrating improvements to core mechanics and introducing new features to enhance the player experience.
Key takeaways from the Soulframe presentation included:
- Customization: A commitment to extensive customization options, a core element from Warframe, is being further expanded in Soulframe.
- Combat Variety: While early gameplay focused on melee combat, the developers have introduced casting and archery playstyles to offer players more diverse combat encounters.
- New Environments and Enemies: The demo showcased the underground Neath’uns environment and a challenging boss fight against a three-headed corrupted foe known as The Waste Bear.
Warframe: The Old Peace
Warframe’s next major narrative chapter is titled The Old Peace. This Operator-focused story takes players to a peaceful period in the past, promising a captivating exploration of Warframe lore. It’s scheduled to launch later this year.
The gameplay trailer showcased a remastered look for the Tenno Operators, seamlessly transitioning between the present and the past. Furthermore, fans will be treated to the opportunity to play as Excalibur Prime during specific story sequences, a character previously exclusive to early adopters. While the Frame will not be made available, players will have the option to take the role of him briefly.
Alongside The Old Peace, a side story called The Devil’s Triad will be introduced, featuring Protoframes for Harrow and Wisp. This storyline will also serve as the introduction for Uriel, a new devil-inspired Warframe, with a design that incorporates tar-like textures and glowing red accents.
Digital Extremes Has More Warframe Content in the Works
Beyond The Old Peace, Digital Extremes is preparing a slew of additional content for Warframe. Valkyr will receive her Heirloom cosmetic bundle through a collaboration with Pertti Bahaa. The team is also partnering with Paizo to create Warframe x Starfinder: Operation Orias, a tabletop RPG experience set to launch this October.
The Untitled Fall Update is coming, containing:
- A ground-up rework for Oberon
- A Deluxe Skin for Lavos
- The introduction of the 62nd Warframe
Finally, a new tutorial quest called The Teacher will be implemented to offer a more streamlined introduction to Warframe’s Mod system, aiming to address the game’s steep learning curve for new players.
10 Years of TennoCon in the Books
TennoCon 2025 marks the 10th anniversary of the event. It provides a moment to reflect on the growth and evolution of both Warframe and the community that supports it. From its humble beginnings as a small gathering to a large-scale celebration, TennoCon exemplifies the connection between Digital Extremes and their dedicated player base.
According to Warframe Creative Director Rebecca Ford, “10 years of TennoCon is such a mind-boggling thing to say out loud. Our community is everything to us; we wouldn’t be here without them.” The focus remains on bringing players together, providing them with the latest news, and celebrating the world of Warframe.
