The latest patch for World of Warcraft is live. From today on, you have fellow players who only press a single button.
The latest patch of World of Warcraft is live. Update 11.1.7 started with today’s maintenance work on 06/18/2025 and brought one of the most controversial features ever in World of Warcraft to date. Because from today it is possible to play WoW with just a single button, which takes almost all the work in battles off your hands.
What is this feature?
As of today, you can activate the “1 Button Assistant”. This gives you a new button that you can simply drag into your action bars. Whenever you use this button, an ability is automatically selected to be used. The system is “intelligent” and uses capabilities that make sense. So it takes into account which buffs you currently have or how many enemies you are fighting with. This allows you to play a solid rotation without having to manually select it.
What’s the downside?
To compensate for this automation, everyone who uses the feature gets a penalty in the form of an increased global cooldown. So you use fewer abilities in the same amount of time than other characters who don’t use this feature.
This means that the vast majority of people will perform significantly less when using this feature than people who do not use it.
Note that this is primarily an accessibility feature. It is intended to help people who, for example, have physical limitations and can therefore only play with aids. However, it can also be used by anyone who does not enjoy the battles in World of Warcraft and plays the game for other reasons – such as pet battles, professions or role-playing.

Apart from this new feature, the patch also includes some new quest lines around Xal’atath, the Etherers or the former Lich King, as well as a new campaign in the Arathi Highlands.
