FFXIV: Easier Main Story Quests

When the grind feels real, or you’re itching to experience the latest expansion in FINAL FANTASY XIV, purchasing boosts can be a tempting option. Let’s explore if these shortcuts are right for you.

Most boosts are available through the Mog Station. After logging in, navigate to Optional Items, which takes you to the FINAL FANTASY XIV Online Store. Look for the Tales of Adventure section on the left-hand side.

Within Tales of Adventure, you’ll find three categories of boosts: Main Scenario Progression, One Hero’s Journey, and One Retainer’s Journey. This article focuses on the first type: Main Scenario Quests (MSQ) boosts.

Here are the details for Main Scenario Progression boosts, also known as main scenario quests (MSQ) boosts.

There are currently three Tales of Adventure available under Main Scenario Progression:

Tales of Adventure: A Realm Reborn

Tales of Adventure: Heavensward

Tales of Adventure: Stormblood

Each purchase comes with added perks and unlocks.

Benefits for buying Tales of Adventure: A Realm Reborn

Purchasing this boost instantly completes all Main Scenario Quests from the original A Realm Reborn storyline.

Your character will automatically have accepted the first Heavensward quest, “Coming to Ishgard,” preparing you for the next chapter.

If you haven’t already, you’ll be automatically enlisted in the Grand Company associated with your starting city.

Many tasks tied to the A Realm Reborn main story are completed automatically, including unlocking aetherytes and area maps, the Dye and Glamour features, obtaining mounts, minions, Orchestrion Rolls, achievements, and titles, and accessing numerous dungeons and trials.

The A Realm Reborn story is preserved in a book called “The Unending Journey,” allowing you to re-watch cutscenes and review dialogue in any inn room.

You will receive ten silver Chocobo feathers, which can be exchanged with Calamity Salvager NPCs for equipment.

You also receive 30 Allagan platinum pieces, sellable to vendors for 300,000 Gil.

You’ll need to speak with a Delivery Moogle to receive your items, and the boost book is usable in inn rooms or major city-states.

Benefits for buying Tales of Adventure: Heavensward

This boost completes all Main Scenario Quests from both A Realm Reborn and Heavensward.

The first Stormblood quest, “Beyond the Great Wall,” will be available, setting the stage for your next adventure.

All other benefits from purchasing the A Realm Reborn boost are also included, along with Heavensward-specific unlocks.

Benefits for buying Tales of Adventure: Stormblood

With this purchase, all Main Scenario Quests from A Realm Reborn, Heavensward, and Stormblood are automatically completed.

You’ll receive all the benefits associated with the Heavensward boost, along with additional unlocks specific to Stormblood.

This package grants 50 Allagan platinum pieces, which can be sold to vendors for 500,000 Gil.

When to consider an MSQ boost in FFXIV

1. If you pre-ordered Endwalker, you received Menphina’s Earrings, which grant a 30% EXP bonus up to level 80. This bonus can cause your character to outlevel the MSQ significantly. Buying Tales of Adventure: A Realm Reborn can help you jump to Heavensward if you’re level 50 and wish to progress faster.

2. If you’re eager to play Stormblood and your character is level 60 or higher but lagging behind in the MSQ, the Tales of Adventure: Heavensward boost can bridge the gap.

3. Similarly, if you’re ready for Shadowbringers, have a level 70+ character, and the MSQ is a roadblock, consider the Tales of Adventure: Stormblood boost.

Important Note:

Since you can play all jobs on a single character, purchasing the MSQ boost is a one-time decision per character. You only need to buy it once unless you have multiple characters.

Alternatives to skipping both MSQ and levels in FFXIV

If you have a low-level character and want to jump straight into Heavensward, other services are available that level your character while also completing the main story. This offers two boosts in one. After the service, you’ll have a level 50 character ready for the next expansion.

Remember, the Tales of Adventure – Main Scenario Progressions only boost your story progress, not your character’s level.

Separate job boosts are available to increase your character’s level independently.
