Dragon’s Dogma 2: How to Defeat Guardian Gigantus
Pre-Boss Fight Preparation
Before engaging Gigantus, meticulous preparation is key for success. Stock up on stamina-restoring consumables like Harspuds, Dried Spuds, and Dried Fruits. These items will prove invaluable as you traverse Gigantus’s immense frame. Fruit Wine and other Vigor-boosting items will further minimize stamina drain while climbing. Strategically choose your Pawn party. A capable Archer, Mage, and Thief are essential. Optimize your weight load. Excess pack weight significantly impacts your stamina expenditure.
Gigantus Mechanics
The fight commences with a cinematic sequence as Gigantus, the animated statue, journeys toward the Moonglint Tower. Initially, focus on following the boss, maneuvering your ascent only when he’s over the sea or on the island itself. Once on land, the key is strategically climbing onto Gigantus’s shoulders. This phase requires precise timing and agility. Gigantus possesses vulnerable points—spikes on its body. Destroying these spikes weakens the boss. Use ranged attacks (Archers, Mages) to sever the spikes from their bases. Melee classes must use stamina-restoring items effectively to climb and strike these weak spots. Utilize the shoulders for rest and stamina recovery. Fall damage is a critical factor. Take advantage of opportunities provided by environmental interactions. Gigantus’s staggered posture offers advantageous climbing positions.
Furthermore, NPC guards and ballistae can assist in weakening Gigantus. Ballista shots require positioning, as they have limited range and cannot rotate. Staggered periods create opportunities for effective attacks. Once the spikes are gone, final assault is possible.
Best Vocations for Gigantus
Several vocations excel in this encounter. The Thief, with its passive Vigor augment and Controlled Fall ability, is particularly advantageous, enabling efficient climbing and minimizing fall damage. The Helmsplitter skill is especially effective in destroying the weaker points. While climbing might not be your preferred style, the Archer provides efficient ranged attacks, though potentially slower than other strategies. The Wayfarer, combining a Mage with melee weapons, offers a unique approach. The mage allows the user to utilize a floating tactic to safely get on top of Gigantus. This approach then allows a swift conversion to melee tactics to engage with the spikes for an effective method of victory.
- Thief: Excellent for close-quarters combat and stamina conservation.
- Archer: Provides effective ranged support for spike removal.
- Wayfarer: Combines ranged and melee combat advantages.
Ultimately, the best approach involves careful consideration of your party composition and preferred playstyle. Adaptation to the changing phases of the fight is critical for success.
